Author Topic: Rolo Tomassi (For fans of TDEP, SikTh, Converge etc) (Read 7321 times)

Anybody else know about this band? I meant to listen to them for ages and ages but never got around to it, then I got the chance to see them live at a festival this year and was impressed by their sound, so I got all their stuff, and they've rapidly become one of my favourite new bands. They've had a couple of albums which are both great, but the new one 'Cosmology' is just fantastic from start to finish, and I think they should become a real force in the mathcore genre over the coming years. I can understand why people would be put off by their sound, as the Sheffield accent does not immediately lend itself to screaming, but for me it's great to see a young (they're all about 19 - 21) English band create this sort of music, as I haven't really seen anyone trying since SikTh, and it's also interesting to hear with a female vocalist.

Also, I just discovered they're supporting The Dillinger Escape Plan on their UK tour later this year! Rad! Getting tickets to see that for sure

Cosmology - Although this version has radio banter over the beginning and end I think it's worth including as it is the only vid of this song on YouTube and it is a truly beautiful track in my opinion

I read about them in Metal Hammer, but I figured they'd be sort of like Paramore-ish due to the female vocals. Which is pretty chauvinistic of me. Listening now, pretty sweet!

Haha it's true that you wouldn't be able to guess what they sounded like just by looking at them, they just look like a bunch of students. And she's so D'awwwww when she talks, I think I love her :3

I tested some tracks out, but I couldn't really get into it. It's actually the female screaming that turned me off. Ahah.

Yeah mang tru dat, I'm totally in love with that album from start to finish, but for me the standout moments are the intial one-two punch of Katzenklavier/Agamemnon, Kasia, and Cosmology the track. I love their mix of youthful energy and mature musical understanding.

And yeah, The Ocean, wasn't sure they'd confirmed for all the UK dates so didn't mention them, but got my London ticket anyways. Need to listen to more of them, though I like the little I've heard
