I have to agree as well. Perdition City is amazing, and so is Shadows Of The Sun. Need to listen to Blood Inside, though.
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

WHAT THE FUCK LISTEN TO BLOOD INSIDE IT IS AN AVANT-GARDE MASTERPIECE

Well... some people consider it the best, equal to Perdition City, and others consider it one of their lesser albums. It's my favorite of theirs, for sure, however.

Their earlier albums took my black/folk metal virginity, and now that my cherry's popped I'm having wild, relentless sex with Agalloch.

Ulver kicks all kinds of ass.

Agalloch is pretty sweet.

Never cared for Converge or motW though.

But +1 for Giant Squid, they certainly kick ass.

I've been meaning to listen to them for forever.
Oh my lad, you are in for a treat. Their discography is probably the most interesting of any band I have come across and truly a joy to discover. The best start is probably Perdition City. my first time listening to it late at night, was one of the best experiences of my life.

Arcaeus and limnides will also agree with me  ;D

Oh yes, yes I will.  I will a thousand times over.
They're artistic geniuses.

I'm doing my best not to turn this post into a complete fangirl tantrum; I think I'm just going to leave it off here before the urge is too great.

I still have a lot to check out in their discography, as Portrucci said... it really is a fascinating evolution they've had, and i really didn't want to blast through it in a week.
Apart from the "obvious" ones.. Perdition City, Blood Inside and Shadows of the Sun, i have checked out Bergtatt and Svidd Neger, so i still have more left. :)

As soon as I hit send I realised I should've added that in too (I'm listening to it right now for crying out loud).  but I'm trying oh so very hard not to just type out the entire discography.

I have no idea. I've known of them forever, but never took the time to listen to them. I am ashamed.

Anyways, here's the end of the list:

3 - Ulver
2 - Ulver
1 - Ulver

going back to listening to Ulver kthnxbye

Alright, for reals yo:

3. Eisley – Is pretty much the most wonderful band ever. Their combination of gorgeous harmonies and subtle instrumentation is bolstered by their core of brilliant songwriting, something many bands seem to forget. Their debut album Room Noises is just about perfect, and one of the best albums ever, and their second release Combinations is damn good as well. There isn’t much else to be said; they’re simply a damn good indie rock band made up of musicians who can not only write good songs but have the talent and creativity to make them great.

Also, Stacy Dupree is the most beautiful person ever and I'm going to marry her. They even have a song called "Ian is Amazingly Beautiful", which is about me. I don't care what their Myspace said about how its dedicated to that dude from New Found Glory. Seriously fuck that band. First the one bitch in it marries Sherri, only to dump her nine months later, AND RUNS OFF WITH HAYLEY WILLIAMS?! AND THEN another fucker in it gets a song written about him by Eisley? Fuck them I hope their tour bus goes off a cliff and they all burn to death in the molten wreckage.

...

Yeah, so anyways there's two left.

and onto your real #3 - I haven't heard of Eisley.  but with conviction like that - I'll definitely check them out.

I know I've said this to you 4 or 5 times now and it's probably starting to get annoying, but I really can't thank you enough for getting me into Eisley. I haven't been this enamored with a band in a long, long time. Room Noises is absolutely perfect - well, almost. Every song on the album is a 10/10 except for Just Like We Do, which I'd say is 8/10 or so. Still, one of the best albums I've ever heard. I haven't listened to a single album this much all the way through in such a short amount of time since I got System of a Down's Toxicity back in 2004 or 2005. I've listened to it 4 or 5 times every single day since I first heard it...shit, it's just so damn good. Combinations is a 5-star album as well, but as good as it is, it just can't touch Room Noises. I strongly urge everyone on this forum to give Room Noises a shot. You won't regret it. The entire album is streaming for free on Myspace, click and enjoy.

Also, as a sidenote: Sherri Dupree is damn near the cutest thing to ever exist, ever. :heart

Listening to Room Noises now.

Liking it a huge amount but, at risk of being flamed, it doesn't quite live up to the hype you two are giving it yet. Ulver should do for you, though, Sigz, I've just got Blood Inside after Perdition City and they're both candidates for my favourite albums already.

I would give you the usual "give it time to grow on you" bullshit, but...it clicked with me instantly. After the first time listening to it I was able to conclude that it would become one of my all time favorite albums. So, you may not love it as much as we do, but you like it and you gave it a shot and that's all I ask of you. ;)

It seems like a great pop album, but a pop album has to be something REALLY special for me to love it that much. But then, my example of that would be Norah Jones, so I don't really have a leg to stand on.  :lol

Perdition City is amazing, but I after a few spins I feel like it could be a little shorter.

I agree, but if you treat it as the pretentious 'soundtrack to an internal film' or whatever they called it and just visualise noiry stuff going on then I suppose it makes sense. I don't really properly listen to it normally, I just use it as something between ambient and 'proper' music. Not that ambient isn't proper music, but you get my point. Hopefully.
