What Do You Wear To Concerts?
« on: August 19, 2010, 12:18:00 AM »
What do you usually wear to concerts? I find myself wearing a shirt/tour shirt of a band that's playing if I have one, and if not, my most recent tour shirt.

I usually wear one relating to the band/s playing. If I dont have one, I'll wear one in the same genre.

Non-band clothing.  I always dress the way I always do when I am going out for the evening or something.

Just a band t-shirt picked at random.

So...what I wear normally, I guess...

That. Sometimes it'll be a band t-shirt (which may or may not be one of the bands playing), others it'll just be whatever. So I didn't vote as it's all of them.

I always wear a band shirt, very rarely one from the band playing.
I'll see a Genesis cover band (covering the Gabriel-era) and I think I'll wear a Spock's Beard shirt. Fits quite well, I think.

I always wear a random metal shirt of a different band, then buy one from the band playing and wear that.

Usually the tour shirt of a band of the same genre.  I've never seen a band twice (about to change with PT/Coheed) but I usually wear my Rush S&A shirt to concerts, though sometimes my PT FOABP shirt comes out.

Typically it's a band shirt and jeans, more often than not it's the band that is playing if I have a shirt of theirs. If not, a band that is somewhat related in genre.

Normal clothes that I wear everyday.

I'm not there for other people or to show my fashion sense (or lack thereof).  I'm there to listen to music not look at everyone's t-shirts.

Don't be that guy. :)

Yeh pretty much this. I have some band shirts, I have some non band shirts. Usually my decision is based on which are clean, ironed or on the top of my clothes pile. Oh and sometimes if I'm crazy I take weather conditions into consideration if I know I'm going to be queueing.

After seeing the American Carnage tour on Thursday, I realized that I got a lot of compliments on my Testament "I :heart Thrash" shirt, but I saw virtually everyone else in a tour shirt. I saw a variety of different metal bands/genres, and for a while, my philosophy was: Wear a shirt of a band that's playing (preferably headliner) if I have one, and if I do, preferably a tour shirt, if I don't, a normal shirt of a band. If I don't have any shirt by any band playing, I wear my most recently acquired tour shirt. So to Ozzfest 2010 on Saturday, following my philosophy, I'd wear my Slayer tour shirt. And then to Aerosmith on Tuesday, I'd wear my Ozzfest shirt that I'd be getting on Saturday.

Now looking ahead (following my philosophy), I'd be wearing a Stone Temple Pilots tour shirt to an Iced Earth show. Hmmm...

I tend to only wear band t-shirts, but don't really bother wearing a related to the present show shirt...

I think I'll do something unique and wear a shirt that was purchased at the same venue at a different concert not featuring that particular artist. My friend does something neat where he wears a shirt featuring the artist of the NEXT show he is attending.

Wait, since when?
Maybe that's why I was getting all those strange looks. On the other hand, no one got in my way when I made my way up to the front.

I used to wear the band I was seeing, but I went with my Frost* shirt at the DT show in Worcester and it totally paid off.  I met a few people who stopped me and wanted to talk Frost*, including one of the roadies that had the Frosterik flag tattooed on his arm.

I don't see anything wrong with wearing the band you are seeing, but if you want to have more conversations with random people, pick another band.  That's what I'm going to do from now on.

At first I read this as "I wore a Dream Theater Black Clouds & Silver Linings tour shirt in the early 90s when I saw Alice In Chains" and was extremely confused.

I wear a shirt of who's playing unless I don't have one. Then I just wear a random band shirt. The only time I didn't wear a band shirt to a concert was when I saw Kamelot. I wanted to be first in line so I didn't bother going home to change after work.

I typically wear the shirt from the last concert I attended. On occassion, that has meant wearing a shirt related to a band I am seeing that night (though I don't frown upon that practice at all and laugh at people who get all uptight about it). Occassionally I will wear a shirt of the band I am seeing if I have an older shirt. Also, depending on circumstances, I might wear a shirt that could serve as a conversation starter if I am flying solo at a show...

Shirt of one of the bands playing, probably the headliner or the band I'm most looking forward to seeing.
