:omg: It's so much cheaper on Amazon. It says the DVD is NTSC, will that work on DVD players made in Australia?

None just leaves me speechless every time I listen to it. I just noticed Jens actually sings in the song Ritual.

here's the thing about meshuggah, if you don't like them or 'get' them, you'll never achieve enlightment

serious...

aside from the fact that they pioneered a completely new style of music and are revolutionising guitar playing, their tunes are beautiful and terrifying, and there's no other band out there that sounds so utterly inhuman. yeah i'm sure you can throw some band at me that's a mixture of sigur ros, frank zappa and animal collective, but if you want to hear what a tribal robotic alien ritual sounds like, meshuggah is where it's at

example, 0:00-0:46 of dancers to discordant system, pure extraterrestial shit

Yep, None - Destroy Erase Improve - Chaosphere is bad arse throughout. Though the post Nothing era is almost just as good.
Would be a good starting point for getting into Meshuggah I reckon.

Somehow had missed listening to Dancers to a Discordant System even though I thought I had listened to all of Obzen.

Yeah, Dancers is the best song off of Obzen.  Even Haake agrees with me.

There's a riff in that song and it sounds like a riff in Wheels Of Confusion by Sabbath. It's THAT awesome!

Haake explains why they don't play either of those two songs in an interview in the middle of the DVD.

Dancers : The spoken vocals.
I : No one knows how I goes.
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

Currently listening to Dancers at full volume on awesome headphones.  The part right after the first set of spoken vocals is one of the most :metal moments I can think of. :2metal:

Pretty much all of Meshuggah's material contains the most  :metal I can think of hahaha.

Meshuggah on my Grado cans sound fucking amazing, every little nuance is perfectly heard, even Haake's left foot on the hi hat pedal.

Speaking of Haake...

Why can't the spoken vocals be done live?

Not loud enough, I would assume. Also, I think Haake does them, which I imagine is hard to do while playing drums.

I guess they don't want the master track playing over the PA along with the entire band, this band is a flawless live act and they probably want to keep it that way? Just what I think.

Almost done listening to Catch 33. Still my favorite by them.
 :hefdaddy

One thing I like about Meshuggah is when I first heard a song by them (think it was Rational Gaze), I was like "wow, this is huh. This is going to take a while to appreciate."

Haha yep, you may say you really like them but don't know if you appreciate them or not. I, for one, am at the stage of fandom where I appreciate them :hefdaddy
And Catch Thirtythree is one of my top favourites, but then this is the kind of band where most of their albums are at number 1 :lol
