Meshuggah
« on: May 29, 2009, 04:21:48 PM »
I know I'm not the only fan of theirs here.

My favorite albums of theirs are probably Chaossphere and ObZen...though I like pretty much everything they've put out.  I hope to catch them on their next world tour as I can only imagine how insane these guys must be live.  Haake is a beast on drums.

Appreciate!

I've only heard ObZen. It's not bad overall kinda repetitive though. Bleed, however, is soooo fucking  :metal :metal :metal I need to get more of their stuff I think.

I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I enjoy most they put out.
I can't listen to them longer than 30 minutes though, unless I'm really in the mood. That's why don't really ever listen to entire cd's.

Track favourites:

Future Breed Machine
New Millenium Cyanide Christ
Bleed
I
Stengah
The Mouth Licking What You've Bled

and many more

I really like these guys. Chaosphere is my favorite from them, no contest. My only problem with them is that they're way too repetitive. I honestly can't sit down and listen to them for more than 30 minutes before I get bored.

They are GREAT driving music.  Especially with the windows down....through an upscale shopping center...blasting through the speakers of my CHEVY MALIBU.  :metal

Repetitive as fuck, but great until I get bored.

My favorite album is Catch 33, favorite song is Rational Gaze.

Mr. Neccy, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this board is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I love Meshuggah, but yeah they're really fucking repetitive.

obZen is my favorite, although all they're albums are consistently awesome.  The I EP is one of the best EPs I've ever heard.

The only full album I've listened to was obZen.  It was OK, but nothing I'd care to listen to very often.

Any other suggestions?

Chaosphere, Nothing and the 'I'-EP.

Caosphere is more thrashy, Nothing is a bit darker, but not as dark as obZen, and 'I' is one long 20 minute Meshuggah Epic.

My favorite Meshuggah album used to be Nothing, but I think Catch 33 is probably their best album.  I love the way the first several songs sort of flow together.

I decided to try these guys out... I got obZen and Contradictions Collapse/None (EP) on the same disc... and I like them but I don't love them... most of the songs sound the same to me... maybe I need to have more time to listen more thoroughly...

I really enjoy this band. At first I was really put off by how different their music was, but something about them kept pulling me back. I finally got into them when I listened to Nothing. Nebulous is ridiculously heavy.  :metal

I went out and bought Catch Thirty Three many, many months ago.  I couldn't even listen to the album all the way through.  Keep in mind, Opeth is my favorite band, so I like brutal shit.  I'll have to try again.

Album suggestions please with explanations as to why you chose it would be very appreciated!

I've only heard two or three tracks off of most of their albums (though I've heard the whole of Nothing, Catch 33 and I) and this is almost exactly how I'd rank them too based on what I've heard. I might swap DEI with C33 though.

And yeah, a lot of their stuff is pretty repetitive, but I think it really works with their style of playing, so I quite enjoy it.

I was completely obsessed with Nothing for about 6 months, and I'd still have to put it in my 20 favourite metal albums for sure, possibly even top 10. The only even slightly weaker track on the whole album is Organic Shadow. The rest is just incredible.

Love them, band that got me into harsh vocals.

One of my favorite bands actually. I don't get bored so easily with them, so I can pop in 3 CD's of theirs and not be bored.

I don't think there's a more talented band on the planet than Meshuggah, but they're not my favourite band.

Gotta respect the music these guys make. I can't imagine how long it must take to create such unorthadox music.

Genius band. Catch 33 and ObZen are my personal favourites.
