Rust In peace is alright. I haven't listened to it in a long time though. Maybe it's time to put it on my iPod.

MasterShakezula

RIP is great, though I like Peace Sells even more.  Really, Deth's easily my favorite of the Big 4.

Greatest thrash album is easily Rust in Peace. It isn't even close.
I'd have to disagree and say Shovelheaded Killing Machine.

Since I think only UltimateHead responded in my Believer thread, I'll post em here too for the hell of it:

"Idols Of Ignorance."  The riff at 2:25 is one of my favorites of all time.  As I like to say, if there really was a literal Metal Militia, they could march to this.

It just bothers me that you probably got my name wrong bragging to all your friends about it.  :'(

contest_sanity

Well, at least that saves you from overload of extra clients.

Load, haha.

My fave thrash album is Justice.

I beg you to explore the genre further.
Yeah, I definitely don't know that much thrash. However, I'm too poor and there are other bands I tend to buy first. I don't like to download either. So ask me in a few years and hopefully I will have heard a lot of what the genre has to offer :) I do pick up the occasional Overkill CD, I have 4 of their albums, also Megadeths and Slayers discography, and Metallicas. I do quite like thrash, its a good genre (particularly progressive thrash).

MasterShakezula

Progressive thrash, eh?

May I suggest Voivod?

Jirpo

You may :tup

I will add to my ever growing list of bands to get into.

Dark Castle

Arch Benemy

Sylosis.

Very much new-school thrash, and some would argue too polished to fit under the thrash umbrella at all, but a great young band with a load of talent. Seen them twice already this year and planning on at least once more. Should be good!

I like these guys a lot, too.  I only have Conclusion Of An Age.  Do you have their latest release?

EDIT: You aren't the only person I've showed Nevermore too who didn't like the vocals. They grow on some people, but sometimes they just don't. If you ask me, Warrel Dane is one of the best in metal. He's fucking fantastic.
I love him!!!!

I'm a big fan of Iced Earth too.... and also like Slayer, Testament, Kreator, Sepultura and Megadeeeeeeth!!!

Seen most of them live... Dying to see Iced Earth....

Oh my god why has this thread been dead for 2 years? I'm on a technical thrash kick at the moment. I listened to Coroner's "Mental Vortex" on a whim today and it's blown me away harder than anything I've listened to in months.

Linked: One of the grooviest songs ever made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phck3OrPOAA

Havok, Vektor and Revocation are pretty much the best modern thrash bands around.

I never really saw Iced Earth as Thrash. I always considered them to be a natural evolution of NWOBHM. I always felt like they were much more balanced, containing Thrash, Progressive, and classic Heavy Metal elements. Granted, I haven't listened to the majority of their discography.

Annihilator is actually one of my favorites atm. Jeff is awesome with riffs.

Here's some Prog/Deathrash my friend showed me the other day (Nocturnus)-

There's also a band called Razormaze whose free EP I downloaded a while back and fell in love with. Only 3 songs, but it's great.

Jeff is awesome with riffs.

He's in my top 3 thrash riffmakers (along Gary Holt, my personal favorite and Mustaine).

Jeff Waters is up there as well, I like you.

Jeff indeed is a master riff writer....biggest knock is the constant turn over in the band

As far as Riffs go...Kurt Vanderhoof of Metal Church has written some great riffs....even when he stepped away from recording and touring he still wrote a majority of the music

So here's an awesome thrash band I just found. They sound a lot like Vektor with some Enslavedand Death mixed in. Can't believe I didn't hear about these guys sooner. :metal
