Ben Kweller - Indie singer/songwriter with a pretty unique voice. If you like gratuitous amounts of slide guitar with your pop songs, check out his album, Changing Horses; it's great.

Here's a cut from the album - "Wantin' Her Again"

Bohren & der Club of Gore

Ambient dark-jazz. Perfect late night music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znJGiSqfbas

I feel like I need a pipe and glass of scotch.
There was a fantastic description of that album on 5/8....

Quote
I'm in some futuristic world in a huge shithole city on some dying planet and it's dark and acid-rainy. There are mutants and sleezos walking the streets. I pass Roger Wilco at a crosswalk. The sewers are steaming and the odor is foul, so I seek shelter in an emptied out night club. The bartender is sweeping the floor and putting the chairs up on the tables. A band of old wrinkly guys, surely not human, have sullen faces and wear smokey leather and dirty rags as they are playing THIS ALBUM. Some scantily-dressed hussies are yelling at a little 5 foot slimebag outside who won't pay up. I order a drink, whiskey on the rocks, and the bartender brings it to me. I close my tab and take a gulp, thinking about the dismal night I have ahead of me back at my seedy apartment. The woman is sick, but I don't care for her anyway. Never have. Oh but she'll be gone soon enough.
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

OK, it seems that The Agonist is not very talk about around here although I can't understand why. It's an awesome deathcore/melodic metal band from Montreal and they have a female singer with an incredible clear voice and mindraping screams/growls (aswell as being a cutie :D). I strongly recommend to check these guys out.

That was pretty cool.  Don't like her screaming parts, but other than that they were good.

LftDM is pretty awesome! It has a more diverse sound than their first album and the vocals are just insane! BTW I'm going to see them with Unexpect in less than a month! ;D

No you see if he recommends a band that means more people know who they are, so he isn't as indie now.

Bumpin' with recs an' shit

Fennesz: electronic/glitch musician, but there's a strong sense of melody underneath all the weirdness. His album 'Endless Summer' is teh sex. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLKzqKdF9Zc

Watch Me Burn: Female-fronted sludge/death/grind. https://www.myspace.com/watchmeburn

Goldmund: Gorgeous minimalist piano. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvOoQ0Ff2nA

Cormorant - Metazoa

Weird mix of Black, Folk and Trad elements that doesn't really fit into a genre descriptor. But its so awesome! Plus no two songs on the album really sound alike.

Dr. Steel (Steampunk-flavored industrial/opera-rock/hip hop) - Intrigued by what I put as his genre? You better be. Imagine if Mike Patton, Danny Elfman and Peewee Herman had a threesome and gave their child to a mad scientist to raise and you have Dr. Steel. Listen to Planet X Marks the Spot, Lament Of A Toy Factory, Fibonacci Sequence, and Childhood (Don't) a Go-Go. Help this man take over the world.

After checking out his Myspace page, I've convinced that he and Ziltoid would make some incredible world dominating music together :metal

Alright, I'll give this a shot.

Kings of Convenience - A mostly acoustic Norwegian duo with a pretty unique dynamic between them.

I recommend the song Misread

I don't know how many of you listen to chiptune, but here goes

Random - A chiptune artist from Stockholm. Really cool stuff.

You can dowload the Bad Joke EP for free here.

Fromuz - instrumental prog/fusion (although some vocals on the latest album).  Don't see why some people on here wouldn't like it.

Rob Dougan - I don't even know what to put as his genre, so let last.fm explain: "Rob Dougan is a genre-blending music composer. Mixing the sound of orchestral film music, the beats of club Trip Hop, and bluesy vocals, he is only tangentially relatable to electronic music." Now go listen to his one album Furious Angels, it's one of my favorites.

I really should check this out after loving 'Furious Angels' and 'Château' on the Matrix Reloaded OST. You can say what you want about that movie but it has one hell of a soundtrack.

Kiuas.

A finnish power metal band that mixes in black metal , makes for an interesting, heavy and bad ass sound.
I found out about these guys a while back, i believe it was January..But they are a fairly new band. Still a tad underground but certainly rising.
