Your Favorite Back-To-Back DT Albums
« on: August 02, 2010, 04:55:01 PM »
I don't recall seeing this as a poll here before so when looking back at my one-two-punch song post (and resurrecting it), I figured I'd do the back-to-back albums thing as a poll.

It's very simple! I'm willing to bet Option 2 gets the most votes, then probably Option 5 the next most number of votes. Guess we'll see...

Hmm I went with Images And Words + Awake though Scenes From A Memory + Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is pretty close.

I'm betting option #5 is a close second.

Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

Option 5 with option 2 not far behind.

Actually, I made remixes of "Finally Free" and "The Glass Prison" where the former ends right at the needle scratching and the latter begins with static. I also did one of "In The Name Of God" where the last note (the low F played with Jordan's nose) is actually the first note of "The Root Of All Evil". The fade-out/fade-in of SDOIT into "As I Am" stays the same, so I didn't touch that. But I have all those tracks in a playlist on my iPod, so I have had a 4-album marathon before... it's a pretty epic 315 minutes of awesome.

As much as I love I&W, I went with SFAM + 6DOIT.

Although I&W + Awake is a great combo too.

SDOIT + ToT   That transition is cool...otherwise I'd probably go with SC + BC&SL :D

My favourite albums are IAW, SDOIT and Octavarium. All three of 'em worthy of the top spot, never quite sure who to give it to at any given time.

So it'd be one of them, paired with Dream and Day, Awake, Scenes, Train of Thought, or Systematic Chaos.

Out of those five... Awake and Scenes, while not bad albums, don't quite do it for me, Dream and Day is Dream and Day, so it was between TOT-OVM or OVM-SC.

I'm outlining my decision process simply 'cause I'm really surprised that it's Octavarium / Systematic Chaos, too. A little flabbergasted, actually, I keep looking for other combos, but no. My favourites seem to be fairly broadly split across the discography. So OVM / SC it is! Don't know why I'm so surprised, they're both superb albums. Just never realised that my top four (add FII into the mix) were so far away from one another.

I'm surprised I&W/Awake isn't running away with this poll. Maybe I shouldn't be, but I am.

It's an 11% lead over SFAM/6DOIT.  We've already established that those 4 are the favorite four of the board, so I'm not surprised.

It's real close, but SFAM > SDOIT

then I&W > Awake

then WDADU > I&W
