The first song you played along to
« on: August 01, 2010, 01:03:40 AM »
So what was it?  For drums, mine was "Enter Sandman" even though I don't even like Metalicca that much.  It was because Enter Sandman was my favorite song to play on drums on Rock Band (nub).
First song on piano was probably Mary Had a Little Lamb  :lol but my first real song was playing the right hand to "Everything I do" by Bryan Adams (nubnub)

What was yours'?

Gosh, first song? I am not sure. I can list some songs that I consider my "beginner songs," though. :)

Guitar player here.

When I first started drumming my go-to albums were

Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Deep Purple - Deepest Purple
Blink 182 - Enema of the State
Cherry Poppin' Daddies - Zoot Suit Riot

I got my metal, hard rock, punk, and swing right from the get-go.

But, I can't remember the first song. It was probably Deep Purple's Black Night.

Setra, I think that is the best statement I have read on this forum.  Very well said.

Only song by The White Stripes that I can stand

I first played along with Judas Priest's "Living After Midnight" on drums.  :metal

I can't stand them. But now thinking about them, there are a handful of good songs.

I don't actually play it but when I first picked up a guitar my brother taught me how to play the solo from Goodnight Kiss.

The first song I ever learned to play on guitar was Love Is All Around (by The Troggs). Four chords, I think it was. I was around 13 years old.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

Mine was the riff from Bullet in the Head by RATM, and then maybe Hitchin' a Ride by Green Day

The first song I played along to was Learning to Live. I played it twice on my own and when I found out how easy it is I went to the store to buy the album and turned it on to play along. This was on a classic piano.

Can't play the end unison clean though, hehe :( and it's pretty hard just before that awesome guitar solo.

I really do not remember, but I'm thinking it was either "Deuce" or "Strutter" by Kiss.

The first day I got my bass I learned "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Dragon Attack", both by Queen.

Some months passed, didn't do much.... and then a music performance came up at my school. So I wanted to play in that. I learned The Ocean by Led Zeppelin, minus the ending because no one was gonna play the solos.  :lol

And the first song I FULLY learned was Cygnus X-1. I still fucking love that song. I haven't played it in awhile, but its so much fun.

I don't believe this was your first song or you can play it at all. Proof.

If you can, then I'll be proved wrong. ;D

I can't play it all, the end unison is way to hard, but it is seriously the first song I really learned on guitar (songs learnt in school does not count -.-) A friend of mine showed me guitar pro...the rest is history :D

I guess it sounded awfull at first ofc, and it's probably not spot on now either. but kinda close maybe? :D

First was Limelight by Rush.

First DT: The Spirit Carries On.  Very few DT songs I can play on a 4-string, but all of Images except TTT was recorded with one...they're just really really really hard.

You're calling me a wimp because I can't just go out and buy a 5 or 6 string bass and I can't play songs from Images well/at all after only a year of playing.  What a douchenozzle.

Actually, I forgot that I can play a good chunk of LtL save some pretty difficult parts.

I'm calling you a wimp because all it takes is some practice to get down the I&W songs :P

It took forever to learn Under a Glass Moon but it was worth it

Actually, PMU or Surrounded would be the easiest choices

Pussy by Rammstein. I had some others but this the only one I can think of that stands out because I wanted to learn it more than any other song.

I don't play along to too many songs. I mostly just practice technique, noodle, and learn parts of songs. But it may have been The Spirit Carries On.
