BTW, I forgot to ask something in my last post: how much of the guitars on the album are played by Wichers?

This is something I was going to ask too.  I have a feeling the lead guitar melody line towards the end of Destined to Burn is Wichers, probably wrong though.

Also, don't mean to sound like a know it all, but I thought it was pretty easy to hear that the intro to Slight of Hand is guitar.

Song ranking.  Okay, this could change day to day as I still have this on repeat in the car.

Lost in the Fire
Slight of Hand
Why
Holding On
I Got You
Destined to Burn
Undertow
Back on the Ground
I Will Not Break
Say You're Still Mine
Letting Go
Unravelling
Agony
Amnesia
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Not much. In fact, I believe the intro previously mentioned is all the playing he did. (He was perfectly fine with Marco handling his guitar parts)

That was me, but played by Marco on the album. :)

My fave five tracks for me is going to be Lost in the Fire, Amnesia, Undertow, Letting Go, and I Got You.

This album is so corny, at times, but it's damn addicting to listen to and enjoy.

This is the strongest candidate for an album of the year for me. Usually such catchy songs become boring after a hundred listens - bot not in this case. I love it from A to Z and despite hearing it for the first time during a hard moment in my life... it's just too good not to listen to it, although it does bring back some memories. I also love the lyrics, especially Amnesia.

It's amazing that even though the songs are mostly quite heavy and some of them include growling vocals it's probably the first time a friend of mine likes it... and he hates such music. The only thing I could complain about is almost too little solos (the ones that are there are great) - but it's a very minor complaint, though. Oh, maybe the keyboards could have been a little louder in the mix (any chance of releasing mixing stems?).

Must listen again... to the whole thing because not a single song is bad!

Uh, I knew I would have been wrong.  It has a bit of a Wichers vibe IMO.  Just goes to show how well you guys worked together.

"I Will not break" playing on iTunes Radio on my Dream Theater channel.

Thought that was pretty bad ass.

Hm, I absolutely love Agony, but the rest of the album - not so much. I don't know why really, the other songs are in the same style and everything, but they just don't ... click.

Album of the year, neck and neck with DT12. Thank you again Matt and the others!! This album has aged so well, as did SI too.

Inclined to agree. But it could be Pip fartin on a snare drum and I would still like it as long as JLB's vocals were on it.

atm:

SI > EOP >>>>> IR

All three are great though, but SI is already one of my favourite albums of all time.

I'm actually not sure whether IR may have slightly surpassed EoP for me now. Either way, it's close, as they're both great albums.

IR/EoP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SI

I don't count anything else.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Isn't it pretty much the same album? I've only made it through once so far. The growls are unnecessary, IMO, and nothing else has grabbed me. I should probably give it another spin, I just have no desire to.

I'll take the two Muzzmuzler albums.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

No.  Both have the same lineup and a similar feel, but at the same time, the structures and styles of the songs are quite different. SI is more metal, where as IR is more poppy.

I'm still undecided between SI and IR, but right now I'd say the place I'm at is IR>SI>>>>>EoP.

As much as I like EoP, SI and IR are on a whole 'nother level. Several levels up.

My biggest problem with IR is that it's really inconsistent. There are some incredible songs on it, but also a couple of really forgettable ones, which is not the case for SI and EOP.

I'd have to disagree with you there. I think IR is consistently better than both SI and EOP.

My album ranking would be more like IR>>>SI>EOP

IR doesn't have any filler IMO, whereas SI has a few less stellar songs and EOP is extremely inconsistent.

IR is REALLY consistent and every single song is catchy as hell. Just not too fun for the first two listens. (Kinda like the new Queens Of The Stone Age album which is my third fav album of the year.)

IR imo:

Awesome: Agony, Undertow, Back On The Ground, I Got You, Amnesia, I Will Not Break, Unraveling, Why

Pretty cool: Lost In The Fire, Say You're Still Mine

Forgettable: Slight Of Hand, Holding On, Letting Go, Destined To Burn

:dunno:

The only song I'm not too keen on is Say You're Still Mine and that's because I'm still in my 'fuck bitches' mode, so the entire songs basis and meaning is lost on me. If there was an upbeat hook like the other songs I'd be open to it but it's one of the more simpler songs. Either way, I still absolutely love the album and for the most part I haven't tired of any songs. My favorites are still Amnesia and Holding On.

P.S. I TOTALLY just now noticed that there's two songs called Holding On and...Letting Go. That's pretty neat. /blonde
