Going to order along with the new DT today:metal :metal

That should be quite an impressive feat since the pre-order for the new DT is not available yet.

That's not completely truth..... I'm as suprised, but this site gives me the option to preorder JL-IR and DT-DT...

Interesting.  According to the schedule I have, that should not be up yet.  But then again, it is fairly typical for Amazon (and some other online retailers) to jump the gun on stuff like that.

Been up for a couple days. I posted it over on the DT discussion forum when I saw it.  I guess it got missed.

Well, in this context, I'm not sure what "legit" means.  :lol  It isn't supposed to be up, but it is up on a legit site, so...yeah.  But the link will probably have a bunch of corrections to it between now and the time the pre-order is supposed to be available, possibly including price changes.  I've seen Amazon and others jump the gun before and have incorrect information in the description and an incorrect price, and then that stuff has to get corrected down the road.  But don't worry--official information should be available..."soon."  :soon:

I just mean, if I go ahead and pre-order it, will everything be peachy, or will it get screwed up down the road?

Hard to say.  I rarely pre-order anything from Amazon because I've heard too many stories of them screwing orders up and either not getting the album out on time or worse.  It doesn't usually happen, but it has happened enough that I don't trust them even though I personally haven't gotten burned by them.

On the other hand, I've had a great experience with CM Distro.  I ordered the Queensryche special edition.  I guess there was a production glitch where the autographed poster that was supposed to be part of the package got delayed.  So rather than delay getting the preorders out on time, they shipped the rest of the package first, and just shipped the posters later once they came in.  They not only got the CD out on time, but most people in the U.S. at least got theirs a week early.  GREAT customer service.

I've been fine with Amazon on regular orders.  Then again, I usually just pick up albums at the brick & mortar stores unless they aren't easily available online, or if there is some special incentive to doing an online pre-order (e.g. getting the album early, a special edition that isn't otherwise available, free advance digital download, etc.).

Why don't you just wait a month or so?

Well, I could, I suppose. I only order stuff sporadically, though, and I'd prefer to order it all at once.

I'm going to get this thread back on track.

You all have to wait two more weeks to enjoy this album.  I don't.  Nanny-nanny-poo-poo stick your head in doo-doo  :P

No, less than a week, for Europe the official date is July, 29 but Amazon.de and the local record store chain advertise it for July, 26. Friday isn't that far away  :metal
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Again, no problem with Amazon preorders. I got the album three days before the release date. Nothing to complain here ;)

It's funny, while you Euros are going bonkers over the album I basically won't even listen to it for two weeks. With review done I sit and wait for the 6th and the real deal.

Great work, guys. I can really see this being one of my absolute favourites this year :tup

Btw, the special edition with the two bonus tracks is definitely worth getting. Both of these extra songs are fantastic, especially Why really impressed me. That one is so fucking catchy it's ridiculous :metal

I'm sort of in the same boat. Now I'm waiting for my vinyl imports for both this and Static Impulse to arrive.

I would like to ask a question that could be interpreted as an insulting prog-snob remark, but it's not intended that way. I just want to discuss it meaningfully.

What genre is this album? After listening to it once, it doesn't sound like "Progressive Metal" to me. I consider Static impulse as "Progressive Metal" and Elements of Persuasion as "Heavy Metal". This appears to be very close to "Power Metal".

There is definitely some progressive elements on the album, but I would say it's closer to to Heavy Metal than it is to Progressive Metal or Power Metal.

What's the point of classifying the album? If it's good, then it shouldn't matter what subgenre(s) it belongs to. Don't mean to sound condescending, but I would just call it metal and describe it with different adjectives and stuff.

So yeah it sounds a lot like Static Impulse heavily inspired by EoP to me. The first half of the album has grown on me the most so far. Amnesia is also nice, the rest will hopefully grow on me in a few more listens.

I might be extremely random here, but I Will Not Break sounds like the answer to "what if James LaBrie was originally the singer of Metallica's Damage Inc." :lol
