I posted it in the Xmas songs thread and no one noticed it  :D

It's not the best song on the album but it's always nice to hear James doing what he does best!  :metal

I NOTICED! just didn't say anything :)

It's been quite the songwriting weekend marathon -- writing some of the strongest/catchiest vocal melodies I've written so far. Can't wait to hear James killing it on these songs.

This is good!!! can we look forward to a release later in the year or in 2021? I assume this will happen in a downtime moment for DT.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

I wonder if some of the stuff Matt was writing for his solo album will end up becoming JLB songs, as it's been quite a while since we heard anything about that.

I'm always excited for more James/Matt, the last two albums were easily two of my favourites from the last decade.

So nice seeing Dream Theater live tonight. Awesome show! Had a great talk with James Labrie about the plans for our next album (but of course forgot to take a photo of us). But got a photo with the phenomenal Mike Mangini. Such a great guy!

Working from home, I have so much more time to listen to music, that I basically run out of things to listen to (well, technically I don't, but I don't feel like listening the exact same albums every single day). So I took a trip down memory lane and dug back up a couple of James' albums outside of DT: Frameshift's Unweaving the Rainbow, and Tim Donahue's Madmen and Sinners.

Unweaving the Rainbow is still fresh and enjoyable, and has James at the top of his game. Not every song is a memorable masterpiece, but it's so innovative and fresh to have an album dedicated to science and biology. Very unusual and more unique than rare lyrical approach. A lot of great songs there, including one of James' greatest ballads, La Mer. Also the epic Message from the Mountain is wonderful, and I have always had a soft spot for the catchy Off the Ground.

Madmen and Sinners is more generic. Classic heavy / rock / prog album. Nothing to scream in awe about, but a very solid offering. The title track is an absolute monster of a song and the entire album is solid and once again has James in great form. Everyone in love with James' voice should definitively check it.

Never heard of Frameshift or that album before. Might need to change that...

The Donahue album also has Mangini on drums, btw :metal

Great song. I also really love the Sebastian Bach album. I am not HUGE into Skid Row, but that Frameshift album with really showcases how amazing of a vocalist Sebastian is, and James as well.

La Mer is the best song on Unweaving the Rainbow imo. It's great.

Love that album! La Mer is a legitimate choice for best song.

Definitively suggested!!! it's a great one of a kind album, especially given the scientific theme. A lot of different compositions, James shining like he knows how to do and a bunch of great songs talking about various aspects of biology and evolution. Go for it!

This is somewhat related, but Matt Guillory released a new song under his name, last month.  It's called Fix Your Heart.  I like it.  It's pretty much in the same styles in the other three songs that he has sporadically released.

This would be a great time for James to lay down some vocals for the new solo album. I so wish they were making a new one at the moment.

James posted a while ago that he was building a home studio. I really hope that, given the pandemic, he's able to record for a new solo album and even new DT there.

The studio is at the point now where I can use it and record but I’m not showing you guys until it is completely done aesthetically!

Hope he gets to record for a new solo album/DT album/whatever soon!

I mean, he looks pretty much the same he has for the last few years just without a recent dye job
