This is totally true, although obviously it is very different to their new stuff. The album is worth listening to for the second half of Second Heartbeat alone. Personally I think Remenissions - Desecrate Through Reverence - Eternal Rest - Second Heartbeat is the strongest run of songs on any of their albums, and indeed one of the best of any of the albums I've ever heard

Man Nightmare is a great album. Sure it loses a little steam right before the Fiction/Save Me one-two-cockpunch, but so many good songs.

My favorites:
Buried Alive
Fiction
Save Me
Nightmare
God Hates Us
Welcome to the Family

Danger Line and Tonight the World Dies are kinda weak, but not really all that bad.

Not sure how this stacks up against City of Evil. I haven't listened to that album in a long time.

Danger Line is one of my favorites on the album  the chorus is a bit underwhelming, but every other part of the song is great.

For serious. Syn and Zack really upped their game with all those fills.

I still cannot get over how amazing Save Me is. It really is the best song they have produced ever.

God Hates Us has clicked for me too. Chorus riff is epic. Shadows does a good job on the growls too.

I can definately say that Nightmare is one of my favourite release of 2010 too.

Bought Nightmare, Self titled and Waking the Fallen in the past week. Nightmare is the best, self titled is pretty good, haven't listened to Fallen as much, but it is the weakest of the three (I did get a free t-shirt with it so I can't complain though).

Is it wrong that I don't want to buy the album because their image pisses me off and M. Shadows is highly annoying?

Passing up an album because you don't like the way a band members choose to dress themselves in the morning is pretty bad, yeah. As for Shadows, depends on what you find annoying. If it's his voice then there's nothing wrong with that.

Waking the Fallen is by a long way the weakest of those three.

Also, am I missing something on the M. Shadows having an annoying voice thing? I mean, ok he used to (heard the debut the other day, he sounded horrible), but he's been having vocal coaching since City of Evil and I think he has a really powerful and versatile voice. Do people continue to make the comments because of what he used to sound like, rather than how he sounds now?

Waking the Fallen is by a long way the BEST of those three. The only part of the album that I can fault is the outro to And All Things Will End.

The only reason M. Shadows ever sounded bad was because he had to have an operation on his throat or whatever between Waking the Fallen and City of Evil.

For the most part he's fine, but he has a way of delivering some lines that really annoys me. Like "as your nightmare comes to life" at 5:20 of Nightmare. It doesn't ruin the song, but I do get what some people would mean when they call him annoying.

I love City of Evil, but on some songs he just put waaaaay too much whine into his voice.

He's much better on Nightmare and the self-titled... for the most part.

True, like on the end of M.I.A. he ruins a perfect song.

Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D

And as for his voice, it's not really surprising he has the whine he does, considering he had vocal training from Axl Roses' voice coach. You don't hear people complaining about Axl's voice
