Post links to full releases (albums/EPs/demos/live shows) made available for free by the band themselves. If you can, post the name of the artist/band, the name and year of the release, file format, and a brief description. Please, no links to Rapidshare/Megaupload/Mediafire!

Of course free legal downloads are allowed, sounds fine to me (though it should go in General Music Discussion rather than here obviously). However, it is extremely important that only official links will be allowed. If people start posting links to pirated material they'll find themselves banned. If everyone sticks within the rules, then I think it'd be a cool thing to do

Sure it makes sense. If you post a link to a file hosting site we have no way of knowing whether or not it was pirated. Posting a link to their site saves us the hassle of having to investigate further.

Even so, it's not fair on us mods to have to check every single link in detail. And anyway it definitely makes sense, if a band is using one of those sites to host their music, they'll clearly still be linking to it from their own site or myspace, otherwise what would be the point?

Our 2008 Lights In The Sky tour was an ambitious multimedia production on a scale well beyond anything we'd ever attempted before. As a "plan B" of sorts, early last year we released a massive 405GB free download of raw HD footage captured at three different shows during the tour. Fans have edited thousands of videos from the footage, assembled their own DVDs and live albums, even held theatrical screenings of their creations. And now, the ambitious and well-organized group known as This One Is On Us have released their massive, highly-anticipated creation, Another Version of the Truth: The Gift. For 12 months, a core team of dozens of fans and a network of thousands spanning the entire globe pooled their efforts to create this professional-quality 1080p High Definition video with 5.1 Surround Sound concert film, and have released it in every format from Blu-Ray and DVD to iPod and YouTube. It combines footage from all three shows and includes DVD menus, bonus footage, multi-language subtitles, a PDF booklet, and more. Nine Inch Nails - The Slip (2008)



The Slip is the eighth album by American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nails, released on July 22, 2008. It was the fourth consecutive Nine Inch Nails release to be produced by frontman Trent Reznor with collaborators Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder. The album was released for free under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non Commercial-Share Alike license, with the message from Reznor, "this one's on me." Ghosts I–IV is the seventh studio release by American industrial rock act Nine Inch Nails, released on March 2, 2008.
