Help me make a mix for my uncle
« on: June 29, 2010, 10:56:38 AM »
After showing my aunt a few songs, she thinks my uncle would really like Dream Theater. I know that I'm definitely going to put 6 Degrees, Octavarium, and Metropolis on there. Considering his favorite band is Rush, what other songs do you guys think would fit his tastes?

Most of Images And Words should be worth a look (aside from Metropolis: Take The Time, Surrounded, Learning To Live). Throw in some stuff from SDOIT on there as well (aside from the title track); also, The Best Of Times might be a good choice.
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

If he likes Rush, include some stuff from WDADU (whether it be the studio version or a live JLB version.... A Fortune in Lies and Ytse Jam in particular)

He'll probably like the proggier side of DT.

So maybe The Count of Tuscany, Take the Time, Learning to Live, A Change of Seasons, Trial of Tears, Lines in the Sand, The Best of Times.

Why? Voices works perfectly on its own. I'd be cautious about including Erotomania, since it might be a bit "too much" for a new listener.

6:00
Take the Time
These Walls
Hell's Kitchen
Lines in the Sand
Under a Glass Moon
Disappear
In the Name of God

A bit over an hour.  Just made it now without looking through it in iTunes, but you get mostly the proggy side of DT with the heavier side at the end.  I have a feeling he'll respond well to 6:00, TTT, LitS, and UAGM in particular.

Gotta include a newer song or two. I might consider "A RIte of Passage" or "Forsaken" .
