Yeah, have to agree with Darkes. Heck, even ITPOE is fairly mad. Beyond broad structural brushstrokes - and in fairness, the album is laid out a LOT like Octavarium - it's one of the madder albums in the catalogue. It dropped the sort of polished classy sound and adopted a sort of jagged charisma. Like a comic book villain. Just for one album.

That's an excellent way to describe it.
