Yup, he heard it on the radio, and the female voice singing the chorus comes from the same recording. Nice find!

Yeah, the female voice was modified a bit:
Quote
5. WHEN YOU DRIVE

Heard a recording of a Vietnamese Buddhist Monk (Thich Nhat Hanh) on the radio one night, speaking about how to meditate at a red light. Really liked his voice, and the subject was a little surreal. Thought it would sit well in a song. The female voice was from the same recording - we stretched her out and changed the key on the computer, and she sings the chorus.

Looks like this is the original version of the audio book - the year of release is 1994. You can hear a sample here and at the very end of it the Tibetian guy starts talking. Anyway, the description in the latter link made me smile:
Quote
Through easy-to-follow exercises, you will learn a treasury of meditations to help you walk, breathe, communicate — even cope with traffic — more deeply and consciously.
BTW, Sister Chan Khong is mentioned as a co-author of the book in both links. I wonder if she's the one humming/singing...

Probably a reference to the U.S. Government's electronic surveillance program that's been in the news this week. It's called Prism, and it's a very OSI type of topic.  Maybe he'll use it as inspiration for his upcoming music, if there is any!

Some political lyrics could be cool, although I prefer the more personal approach Kevin usually has.

I just listened to Dead Air for Radios for the first time the other day.  Amazing album,

Still his best material IMO.  That album blew my doors off on my first listen as well.   Found it at a Borders right after it was first released.

Oh yeah...so much.   I was often surprised at the selection.   I could literally spend HOURS in the CD section.

What's the deal with that track anyway? Who's doing the speaking? Is it a sample from some movie?

No, it's a voice bot reading the transcript of a vision/premonition/profecy of the apocalypse.

I don't think so, but I'm not sure, of course. You will have to wait until Milena comes online, which means most likely in a couple of hours. She will provide you with any explaination (supported by multiple sources and documents) you need.  :tup

Yeah, it's on Wikipedia:
Quote
The speech synthesizer in "Hell Mary" recites a paragraph from the Bayside prophecies by Veronica Lueken.[4] Moore has stated that "["Hell Mary"] has something to do with the end of the world, I think. And hallucinogenic visions thereof as experienced by a computer"
And yes, the track is creepy as fuck :|

No, the actual transcript of the part in Hell Mary (I think it's among sources in Wiki now, even). Yeah that's one great interview/chat session... "quit your job today!"

So, it's basically the description of  a meteor shower with multiple collisions resulting from the breakup of an asteroid in the upper atmosphere? It fits quite well.
