I Walk Beside You

Album version.  The live version from Score isn't much different, but the album version is just a bit cleaner and has more punch.

Take Away My Pain

Definitely the demo version.  More emotional, both in terms of the different musical tone and the extra verse.

Voices

Album version, with honorable mention going to the live version on SLFNY.  The other live versions just haven't been as good vocally, IMO.

Stream Of Consciousness

Nothing wrong with the album version at all, but the L@B version edges it out.  It just seemed to have a bit more energy, "bite," and atmosphere.

Home

Album version.  Honorable mention to LSFNY.  I like that the edit on GHA21OCS cut out the porn section.  But the rest of the cuts make it sound too choppy.

Scarred

Album version.  One of my favorite DT songs of all time.  Unfortunately, it just doesn't seem to translate well in a live setting.  It seems like James in particular always struggles, and there is always something else going on to drag down the live versions, whether it be the bass being too low in the mix, or whatever.

That... With honorable mention to the Chaos In Motion version with Scarred.

I agree with everything bosky said.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Norwood, why did you pick these songs?

Because all the song titles have vowels in them.

That's as good a reason as any.

Take Away My Pain

Best version is without a doubt the version on this CD:

Unfortunately, it's pretty tough to find.  But for a second-best, you can find a lower quality version of the same performance on the Old Bridge, NJ Official Bootleg:

Me too...I think he nailed it.  Especially on Scarred.  I've never been able to put my finger on it, but the live versions have always seemed off...and I love that tune.

I walk beside you-Original version, just sounds better overall
Take away my pain-Haven't heard the demo version...so I pick Once in a livetime
Voices-LSFNY, but I really don't care, don't remember that song very much.
Stream of consciousness-L@B, but like the ToT too
Home-LSFNY. It's like the only version I listen too, and the Tourbulence one.
Scarred-Chaos in Motion. The intro (wich is kinda like the only good part of the song) is extended and better. Also like the Tourbulence one too, with that part from another song at the end...is it Innocence faded?
