James' new CD is actually called "Static Impulse".  There was a misunderstanding of the title until Matt Guillory corrected it on his Facebook page:

The release dates and stuff can be found here in this thread on James' official website:

Ooooooh... I guess this means I have between now and September 28th to get as much (if not all) of JLB's solo/project stuff... any suggestions on where to start before the release of Static Impulse???

I'm not too excited about the new solo albums.

For one, JLB's last solo album had some very generic, weak music. Some parts were cool, but overall I did not like it. Secondly, I think JP my be in my top three favorite guitarists ever, but I just don't like electric guitar albums.

I'm gonna say I agree with this. While I like EoP, I don't see why it gets so much love. Both Mullmuzzler albums were 10x more original and diverse.

This is how I feel also. If JLB would ditch the insipid nu-metal/modern elements I'm sure he could make a great album.

"Static Impulse also features the immensely talented longtime songwriting partner and keyboardist Matt Guillory. Another notable performance is Peter Wildoer from metal titans DARKANE on drums and screaming vocals.[/u] The group is rounded out by Marco Sfogli on guitars and Ray Riendeau on bass." [/i]

What?
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I have no problems with that in a band. EXCEPT FOR JAMES LABRIE'S BAND. I mean I cannot imagine the evolution. KITY was full of prog and great tunes and more than 10 years later there's screaming vocals- What the fuck?

I'm tempted to conclude that the new Jelly Jam and, yes, even Petrucci's solo album will also feature growling vocals.  Let's face it DT fans: they cannot be escaped.

For once I'd love for James to throw Portnoy on the ground at the studio and say "I'm playing drums on this track!  And it's gonna be a polka track -- because I freakin' love polka!!!"

Heavy Rush influence again? (see intro video)

Exactly.  They can't ever shake that Rush influence.  I, for one, would also hope for a guest spot solo from Weird Al Yankovic.

It's a shame they're whoring out to that trend instead of stubbornly sticking with good vocals.
