The boldest part reaches levels of fail DTF has never seen before - and we've seen some impressive levels of fail.
As to your other point - sometimes it takes a while for a band to "click". It took me a year to get into Opeth, two years to get into Devin Townsend, two years to get into Between the Buried and Me, and 3 years to get into Pain of Salvation. Opeth, Devin Townsend, and Pain of Salvation are now all top 10 bands for me, and BtBaM is about one more solid album from being a top 30 band. Never give up on a band, unless that band is Conception...12 years and counting and I still think they suck ass and balls. There is nothing wrong with keeping around old favorites if you still listen to them.
BTW, what's wrong with your old iPod? I've owned 5 of them - 3 still work and one had the LCD break because I threw it. I'm sure you've tried reseting it, but have you tried a complete wipe and install? Sucks to do, but it can work.
Levels of fail DTF has never seen before...meh...It is what it is, I've been listening to Rush all my long (and by long I mean 18 short years) life; mainly when I was younger with my dad. Over those 18 years there music has never fully appealed to me. Why would I want to listen to them when I have Dream Theater? Porcupine Tree? my heavy metal and metalcore bands? Opeth? The newly learned and much loved Riverside? There is SO much music out there that I just find more appealing than Rush. I knew I'd get hated on for saying that
The Ipod won't connect to my computer anymore (EVERYTHING freezes when I connect it and EVERYTHING unfreezes as soon as I disconnect it (wtf?)) and all music on the Ipod is categorized under the "Other" category so nothing can be done with it. I have been trying to avoid a complete wipe and install, however I think that is going to be on top of my list of things to do tomorrow
There are roughly 20,000 songs on there that my neighbor (same one who owns the book/cd/dvd store) gave me via an external hard drive. There were initially 35,000 songs and I've been winnowing them down over the past few months. However I do not have them backed up anywhere so if I were to do that again I'd be starting all over. Oh well.
