Was DSOTM recorded before or after the regular set?
« on: June 06, 2010, 03:48:54 PM »
l'm listening to it right now, and James sounds tired and often flat. To be honest,  Theresa sings him against the wall. Anybody know?

Also, where did they get the sound samples from? They sounded pretty dead-on.

Based on how they did their cover shows, I'd assume it's after the intermission.

It was the second set that night, and they used basically the exact same samples that Pink Floyd used.  Also, the sax player was the sax player from the Roger Waters Band, so he was, shall we say, familiar with the material.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Who?  The sax player?  He was phenomenal.

As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Hm. Dark Side is EASILY my favorite of the DT cover albums. JLB sounds far worse on Puppets and NotB (which I still can't believe was done in studio).

James' vocals we rerecorded in the studio.

I think.

Anyone can verify?

I think that some of the vocals were re-done in the studio, if memory serves.

Of course, I have a boot from when they performed NOTB in Japan, and James sounds even better than on the Official Bootleg.

Why did they rerecord his vocals on an official bootleg?

There may have been a technical reason, like the vocal channel not recording correctly live, or something.  I don't remember.

Osaka 4-24-24!! Yes, that's an awesome boot. What I also like about it is that you can hear Jordan's keyboards a lot more than in the mix on the Official Boot. It seems like he wasn't going to just settle for doubling the guitar.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Yep.  That is a great boot all the way around, including A Change of Seasons and The Glass Prison/This Dying Soul.

It will be an awesome boot, in 2024.

Unfortunately it's one of those boots Portnoy doesn't want traded so if you get it from around here it most likely won't include the NOTB songs.

Really?  Wasn't aware of that.

EDIT: It's not on the list.

No kidding! I didn't realize the bootleg is from a Paris show. I had always just assumed the only played the album once, in Japan.

Well then, I'd greatly appreciate it if anyone decides to post a link to this show.

I haven't been booting in a long time, I don't even know if it's still up on dime or not.
