All we know for sure is that JR said they'll play Outcry.

I'm just curious. I missed this. Where did he say that?

During his latest Vokle chat. He said that the song will be a blast live! ;)

This is not really a prediction, it's what I'd like to see, with trying to be a bit realistic.

1. On the backs of angels
2. Build me up, break me down
3. Beyond this life
4. Blind faith
5. Wither
6. Bridges in the sky
7. Outcry
8. Caught in a web
9. Stream of consciousness
10. Breaking all illusions
11. Pull me under
- - - - - -
12. Octavarium

It's two hours and 15 minutes, which is just as long as the show I saw this year.

We're probably not going to get a song from every album like before due to this being a proper tour to support ADTOE. We'll probably get a nice mix of stuff plus a few newies.

Bridges In The Sky
These Walls
Innocence Faded
Outcry
Endless Sacrifice
Wither
On The Backs of Angels
Blind Faith
The Spirit Carries On
Breaking All Illusions
Beneath The Surface
--------------------
Learning To Live/Metropolis in rotation.

And no, I don't think we'll get any MP-penned songs. Or Medleys. That screams "Mike Portnoy's idea) at me.

I am having a really tough time coming up with a realistic set list.  Based on the European shows and how long they would likely play with one opening act anyway, we should probably expect a set of around 2 hours.  They will almost surely play 4-5 songs from the new album.  My thoughts on the likely new songs:

-On The Backs Of Angels (8:43):  An obviously choice.  They like to play their album openers, and they like to play their lead singles.  This song is both.
-Build Me Up/Break Me Down (6:59):  Just a gut feeling this one will be included.  It is relatively short.  It's up tempo and fun.  And it's a total James moment.
-Bridges In The Sky (11:01):  I think this one is likely because James has been talking about it, and it seems like it would go over well live.
-Outcry (11:24):  Nothing really to go on here other than the fact that it is total DT instrumental craziness for a good portion, but still with prominent vocal parts.  This song just seems like it screams out to be played live, and I see the guys having a lot of fun with it.
-Beneath The Surface (5:25):  Nice, short ballad.  I think they will likely choose one of the softer songs from the album.  If I'm being completely honest with myself, Far From Heaven might be a likely choice since it is shorter, and it really packs an emotional punch.  But it is easily my least favorite, so I'm being biased and hoping for BTS or TITL, and BTS is shorter, so I'm going with it.

These total about 43:33 if we go with the album track times.  That leaves about 1:16:27.  I think the choice pickings are the European songs and anything from the auditions since those are all relatively fresh in EVERYONE's minds.

I have to say, while I would be fine if they cut Ytsejam/drum solo, I think they will keep that combo.  1.  I think they want to give Mangini a solo spot to show him off and validate their choice.  2.  Even with the long instrumental passages in a lot of songs, I think they want to keep an instrumental in the set.

TCOT is a mystery to me.  On one hand, with a lot of the new material from the last album, and with them having played TCOT on the European tour and a lot on the BCSL tour, I could see it being cut.  Then again, since they didn't do a formal BCSL tour in the U.S., maybe they will keep a BCSL song in the set.  If they sub it out for another, I think it will be ANTR because it is a great live song and Mangini has played it.  Still, I'm going with "cut."  It makes enough space for 2 of the ADTOE songs.

The other places that seem likely to cut from the Euro sets would be either Endless Sacrifice or the SFAM songs.  I'm fine with either of those, to be honest.  I thought TGD might also be a likely choice, but Mangini seemed to really enjoy playing that one, so maybe they'll keep it.  Of ES or the SFAM, it's hard to say.  I think JP really likes both.  I'm just going to roll the dice and say cut ES.

So here's my set, in no particular play order:

Under A Glass Moon
These Walls
Forsaken
Ytsejam->drum solo
Peruvian Skies
The Great Debate
Caught In A Web
Through My Words->Fatal Tragedy
Learning To Live/Metropolis (encore)
with the five songs from the new album

That's a solid 2 hours of music.  Maybe just a bit too long, so maybe there's still just a bit of trimming that still needs to be done.  I know it's kind of safe given what they've recently played, but honestly, that's what I think they'll do.  So for the record, that's my call for the set list.  2 days left to see how close I am.

So...I've seen there already is a thread regarding the "guess the setlist" subject so i'm trying a different one...

I'd like to know from you guys what songs would you love to hear live this tour....of course, I'm not counting the new album as I'd really love they'd play it in its entirety (and it's quite obvious they're gonna play most of those songs), and I'm NOT following the old MP rule that songs played in previously tours (if not even on a venue-to-venue basis) should not be played on this one. No max number of songs, just put a wishlist.

So, let's move on. In a chronological album release order I'd love to hear:

Light fuse and get away
Only a matter of time
Take the time
Surrounded
Lifting shadows off a dream
Erotomania/Voices/The silent man (original acoustic musical miracle LOL!!!)
Scarred
You OR me    ------> yes the original one :-P
Just let me breathe
Trial of tears
Strange deja-vu (+ overture?)
Through her eyes
Home
The dance of eternity
Finally free
Solitary shell
Blind faith
Misunderstood
About to crash/Losing time/Grand finale
Octavarium
A nightmare to remember
Raise the knife
Speak to me
Take your fingers from my hair (yes I know, it's a Zebra's song form the special edition of BC&SL and I don't think they'll ever play covers again, but this one truly rocks!!!!)

Nothing from "Train of thought" or "Systematic chaos" and just 3 songs from their last 4 albums (ADTOE not counted)???? Yup that's it...I'm just not interested in hearing those tunes ever again...especially SC stuff ::)

I'll stick to DT songs (no covers)
These 10 songs are the only songs I have NOT seen DT play live yet  :( (not counting the new cd and of course, The Shattered Fortress or Best of Times which won't get played)

  1. Light Fuse and Get Away
  2. Only a Matter of Time
  3. Status Seeker
  4. Don't Look Past Me
  5. Space Dye Vest
  6. You Not Me (or the original You OR Me)
  7. Take Away My Pain
  8. Where Are You Now
  9. Wither
10. Raw Dog

Other songs I'd like to see (that I haven't seen much of)
YTSE JAM
The Mirror
A Change of Seasons :hefdaddy
Anna Lee
Overture 1928
Through Her Eyes
About to Crash (reprise)/Losing Time/Grand Finale
A Stream of Consciousness
In The Name of God
These Walls
In the Presence of Enemies, Pts. 1 & 2

Of course, I have favorites like everyone does, and if they get played that's cool, but all of the above songs are ones that in my 30+ DT shows I've seen much less than others.

I'm not really too fussed what they play, as long as I get to hear Metropolis or LTL. They're my 2 favourite songs, I'd be gutted if I missed out on either of them again - especially after one or the other was played most nights of the Summer tour in Europe. I'm guessing they'll carry on with them through the US tour as well, hopefully they don't get sick of them!

I love the new album, so whatever they play from that will be cool, especially BAI, BITS and OTBOA

But if I had to pick a list of songs I'd love to see:

Metropolis
Learning To Live
Octavarium
In the Name of God
Breaking All Illusions
In The Presence of Enemies
A Change Of Seasons
Endless Sacrifice
Bridges in the Sky
The Glass Prison
Sacrificed Sons
Under A Glass Moon
The Ministry of Lost Souls
On the Backs of Angels
Beyond this life

I think that On the Backs of Angels and BMU, BMD will definitely stay. BAI and Outcry will probably stay, but something has to be removed if they add either LNF or TITL (which I think they will), or else the setlist will contain nearly two thirds of ADTOE. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Bridges will actually be removed. While I seriously doubt this will happen, I went back through DT's tourography and noticed that they have never kept the same opening song two North American tours in a row. However, that may have been MP's doing.

Other than that, I just hope that TCOT somehow finds its way back into the setlist, but I doubt it.

Surrounded > Another Day
Pull Me Under > Take The Time
A Fortune In Lies will most likely stay where it is.
BAI isn't going anywhere, they would be crazy to remove that one!
Outcry > Lost Not Forgotten
On The Backs Of Angels or BMUBMD > This Is The Life
I have a feeling that the acoustic set might be dropped in favour of a faster paced centerpiece, that may very well be Lost Not Forgotten

I'm not sure how many cities DT are returning to for the 2nd leg. I was at the Warfield for the first show and they are coming back. I'm hoping for completely different songs but its not guaranteed.

All the ADTOE songs that were played on the first U.S Leg will be swapped. So no On the Backs of Angels, BMUBMD, Bridges in the Sky, Outcry, Breaking All Illusions, Far From Heaven, and Beneath the Surface.

Now the first 8 shows of the 1st U.S. Leg either got Outcry or Breaking All Illusions, all other shows they decided to play both. I was at the SF show and only got Outcry. Since they're returning to the Warfield they will play BAI. A venue specific song! The acoustic sets were also alternated. SF got Silent Man and Beneath the Surface first time. It will be Wait For Sleep and Far Heaven.

They will also play the songs from the 2nd European Leg and current Asian Leg.

6:00, Surrounded, Root of All Evil, A Fortune in Lies, War Inside My Head, Test That Stumped Them All, The Spirit Carries On.

Also add in Lost Not Forgotten and This is the Life and mystery song.

1. New Opener
2. 6:00
3. This is the Life
4. Surrounded
5. The Root of All Evil
Drum Solo
6. A Fortune in Lies
7.  Lost Not Forgotten
8. Wait For Sleep
9. Far From Heaven
10. New Song
11. War Inside My Head
12. The Test That Stumped Them All
13. The Spirit Carries On
14. Breaking All Illusions
15. Pull Me Under

as long as sf gets BAI im good, but since i saw the last sf show and am seeing both the 2nd sf show and the chester, PA show, im hoping for a little variety..

Hm.

As I Am
6:00
Build Me Up, Break Me Down
Surrounded
The Root Of All Evil / The Dark Eternal Night
A Fortune In Lies
Lost Not Forgotten
Peruvian Skies
On The Backs Of Angels
War Inside My Head
The Test That Stumped Them All
The Spirit Carries On
Breaking All Illusions
=====
Pull Me Under

Of course, this precludes there being any new songs. I imagine This Is The Life will show up somewhere. I'd love Peruvian Skies (and hell, The Count too) to show up in North America, but maybe not. Otherwise, Take The Time is another likely candidate from I&W. I hate Another Day, so I really don't want to see that one.

We'll see.

I'm betting we'll get the same as this past European leg, with a few variations. I'm thinking As I Am will trade with something other than Pull Me Under (since they've already done PMU in the States). Maybe Metropolis or (I really hope) Learning To Live. I hope they keep Fortune because I really want to see that live. I hope they drop Dark Eternal Night and just keep Root of All Evil.

I think we'll get a transition like the first European leg to the first North American leg. MM said he has been learning new songs for the North American Tour, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a whole new base setlist of older tunes.

Mmm don't think so. It says right in their promo that the tour is in support of ADTOE so I would expect at least 6 from that. I would bet that the rest of the set will be shaken up though....but what do I know?  :|

You just said the same thing I did. It's pretty obvious they're going to keep ADTOE songs in rotation. I just made the case that "I wouldn't be surprised to see a whole new base setlist of older tunes," which excludes ADTOE songs since I used the term older. I expect a setlist shake up of older tunes while they keep playing the standard ADTOE songs, whatever those songs may be.

I expect a new opener besides Bridges, though, maybe The Glass Prison (since As I Am was played as the encore song a few tours ago)?

I'm not sure. MP was the one that like medleys, and JP has expressed distaste for them. Then again, who knows?

However, I think there will simply be one or two songs in the set from I&W rather than a medley.

I'm calling Glass Prison as the show opener. Especially now that we know a DVD is being filmed at some show within this upcoming tour.

Firstly, it is a great opener, and secondly, it has not been on any official DT dvd.

And third, it is due to be put back into the sets. It hasn't been played since 2006, if I recall correctly.
Where would YOU be without prog?!
I'd be standing somewhere with dignity, respect, and bitches.

I would still expect to see Bridges open, but perhaps This Is The Life and Lost Not Forgotten would likley replace BMUBMD and OTBOA/Outcry.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol
