Looking for a Myung Interview
« on: June 04, 2010, 01:31:09 PM »
I remember a few months ago (maybe longer) when someone posted an interview of Myung saying that he is going to write lyrics in the future. I think it was a Dutch interview. My apologies if I'm mistaken, but if anyone has the English translation of the interview, I'd appreciate if it's posted. I was visiting the forums days after the Dutch interview was posted, and couldn't find an English translation (if one was even posted).

Thanks.

It's not the interview you were looking for, but its an interesting read of itself.

Myung talks a lot about a band dynamic, and how its important to the music, makes me wonder how he appreciates the newer writing style.

But I'm not turning it into that thread.

Same here, I have wondered where that interview have gone.

If it's in german it could be translated with google to english.

I think it's quite funny and peculiar that Petrucci, Myung, Sherinian and LaBrie usually speak wonders about the Shirley producing thing, wheras Portnoy is the exact opposite.  :D

MB: Absolutely. When it’s all said and done, how would you like people to remember you as a musician?
JM: I’d like them to remember me as a bass player, you know. If someone saw my picture, I’d like them to know that. That’s a bass player.

I love this guy.

Anybody have any other FII era interviews?

I thought he had done quite a few interviews before Scenes from a memory. He wasn't the silent guy back then, at least not as much as these days. I'm interested in JMX's interviews from the last 10 years, if someone has any.

The interview that has been posted is brilliant. He's so talkative in it too, and shows much more of his pesonality. It's rather a shame that he seems to shy away so much more these days, especially seeing him saying things about relations with the fans and suchlike. It's all speculation of course, but he seemed so much more enthusiastic and excited and inspired back then.
The band describing John Myung:
JLB: "He's deep. He's deep in thought"
JP: "We have a deep understanding musically"
JR: "John Myung is a very deep kind of person"
MP: "John Myung is an enigma... N he's deep as fuck yo'"

Really? He seemed pretty bashful and insecure. "Shut me up, I'm rambling." I mean, I really love hearing what he has to say, but he doesn't seem comfortable saying it - a little shy and worrying about being judged. But he's authentically enthusiastic, and it's nice to be able to see a big ol' shard of that for once.

During the behind the scenes stuff on one of DT's DVDs, doesn't JMX outright say that he doesn't like doing interviews?

It's likely that he's enthusiastic about the music and the fans, while the interviews are something he only does when he has to.
