3. Street Spirit (Fade Out) - This was my favourite by the band for a long time. I tend not to listen very much these days, but this for me was the first Radiohead song chronologically that said "these guys are something special". The outstanding highlight of the bends, a haunting guitar line that builds and builds, and ends with the beautiful lyric "immerse your soul in love". I've listened to this one a few times after break ups, probably doesn't help but its always seemed fitting  :-\

2. Reckoner - This was a major surprise.. After all the fuss when In Rainbows came out due to the whole "pay what you like thing", when I got down to listening, I was simply expecting polished versions of the songs that had previously been showcased live. I wasn't too bothered about hearing this song in particular, since a song called "The Reckoner" already existed, and to be honest, it wasn't that great. Thankfully, it wasn't the same song. This was an instant classic for me, and it has remained so. After HTTT (not that it's bad at all), I honestly didn't think they could craft such a song again.. it's a stunner, particularly when the strings kick in on the final chorus.

In Rainbows is so great and powerful, most of the time I can't even take it. Particulary this album reminds me of past moments in life and confronts me with it, hard. It's still a terrific record though, and I'd definately say it's Radiohead's masterpiece. It's like they decided to give the 'guitars and/or electronica?' dillema a rest, and just concentrated on making great songs. Like they said in an interview: 'On this album we play stuff that moves us'.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

2 interesting choices for nr3 and 2, not sure if any of them would make my top5 though.
Still, Radiohead has made many great songs. :)

1. Pyramid Song - Pyramid Song has been my favourite Radiohead song since since about 2003, and it's close to being my favourite song ever. I could try and describe it, but the best way to feel it's power is to stick some good headphones on and listen in the dark. A seemingly offbeat piano intro eventually makes sense when the drums kick in on the second verse. It is here where thom's voice along with an appearence of the Ondes Martenot make something truelly special. I cry almost every time hearing it during the 2nd verse. Self declared by Yorke to be "the best thing we've committed to tape, ever.", I'd be inclined to agree. The only bad thing I'll say, is that it simply isnt reproducable live to the same level (it's still damned awsome though).

So I practically can't put The Bends down. To me it's a perfect album. There's not a song in there that I don't enjoy. When I first listened to it I thought "man, they did it! They made an awesome quality pure radio friendly album!" I can easily say that all of these songs could have been hits in most of the radio stations across the world.

I have never seen them live, any specific DVD performance I should get into?

The Bends is a fantastic album, but it would probably be my least favorite Radiohead-album. (apart from Pablo Honey)

I've been listening to Radiohead for a few months now, and I'd say The Bends turned out to be my favorite Radiohead release. Don't get me wrong, I love their later wacky experimental works, but there's something simple yet original about The Bends. Great album start to finish.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to have many live DVD releases (aside from I think one or two from the 90s).  They seem to be into throwing all kinds of live stuff on youtube instead, but I wish they would have recorded and released one of the concerts from the In Rainbows tour, which had a great live show and fabulous (and slightly rotating) set lists on a nightly basis.  Sure, you can find that stuff all over youtube, but having it on a live DVD just makes it that much better.

The Bends is easily in the top 3 with OK Computer and Kid A. I'll stay away from ranking those 3 though. :lol

They have a DVD called "Right Place - Right Time" which I think is from the In Rainbows-tour, I got it purchased myself.
Not sure how much of a bootleg it is, but quality-wise it's pretty good, and I have seen it in several stores, so it can't be THAT rare. :P

Zantera is weird. :P :lol

Amnesiac is really good, and its highs are probably as good as The Bends' highs, but The Bends is a great listen from start to finish, while Amnesiac loses its way at times, resulting in a few throwaways songs.

I accepted Kid A as a one-off experimental album which I did enjoy.

Amnesiac was worse in that it seemed experimental for the sake of it and some of the tracks are beyond awful.

I think what I should have said was:

"I like Paranoid Android. It's the only Radiohead song that doesn't put me to sleep."

That would have been more accurate. Why I called it my favorite alt rock song of all time, I have no idea.

1) Videotape
2) How to Disappear Completely
3) Idioteque
4) Let Down
5) Fake Plastic Trees

Though it's actually pretty stupid to make a ranking for Radiohead songs, seeing as they're all amazingly brilliantly emotionally ingenious.

Oh, and

1. Kid A

~~

2. In Rainbows
3. OK Computer
4. Hail to the Thief
5. The Bends
6. The King of Limbs
7. Amnesiac
8. Lol

Like "Pyramid Song" and, uh, I guess that's it. I do like quite a bit of songs on there but calling them standout is a little over the top.

Like "Pyramid Song" and, uh, I guess that's it. I do like quite a bit of songs on there but calling them standout is a little over the top.

Well, to each his own I guess.
But songs that I just love on Amnesiac: Pyramid Song, Packed Like Sardines.., You and Whose Army?, I Might Be Wrong, Dollars and Cents and Like Spinning Plates.

Bends as I said is a great and solid rock-album, but I can't say that I care in particular for any of the songs more then the others, and overall I think OK Computer is a much better, more well-crafted rock-album.
