Not that I am saying TAC or anyone else here is doing this, but I wish the collective Rush fan base would stop obsessing over and talking about the stupid R&RHOF.  Who gives a crap if Rush never makes it?  They don't need that validation or "honor."

Right Kev, I wasn't saying it, but I mentioned them as an extension/example of the media that for competitive reasons has no choice to no longer ignore Rush.

Kev, I think every Rush fan just wants Jann to eat crow. It won't make a difference to me.

rushisaband.com is reporting that this was the set list in rehearsals yesterday:

Set 1

1. The Spirit of Radio
2. Time Stand Still (last played on Counterparts tour)
3. Presto (never played live)
4. Stick It Out (last played on Test For Echo tour)
5. Leave That Thing Alone (last played on Vapor Trails tour)
6. Workin' Them Angels
7. Faithless (never played live)
8. BU2B (new song - never played live)
9. Freewill
10. Marathon (last played on Presto tour)
11. Subdivisions

Intermission

Set 2

12. Tom Sawyer
13. Red Barchetta
14. YYZ
15. Limelight
16. The Camera Eye (last played on Signals tour)
17. Witch Hunt
18. Vital Signs (last played on Vapor Trails tour)
19. Caravan (new song - never played live)
20. Drum Solo
21. Alex Solo (Hope?)
22. Closer to the Heart (last played on Vapor Trails tour)
23. 2112 Overture/Temples of Syrinx
24. Far Cry

Encore

25. La villa Strangiato (last played on R30 tour)
26. Working Man (last played on R30 tour)

------

I am hoping that is not accurate.

"Presto" the 3rd song of the first set?  Talk about losing a crowd early, as that is a song only a small percent of every crowd will give a crap about hearing.  In fact, most of the crowd will be asleep for a majority of that first set.

"Far Cry" closing the second set?  That would be a huge mistake.  They have to know by now that closing a set with a new(er) song or putting it in the encore is a colossal mistake.  Classics everybody knows and wants to hear is what you end sets with and play as encores.

And no "Jacob's Ladder."  If they don't play that, after Lifeson said in an interview that they would be playing it, I will be EXTREMELY disappointed in the band.  I am sorry, but you don't say in an interview that you are going to play a diehard fan favorite that you haven't played in almost 30 years and then don't play it.  You just don't.  I pray this rumored set list is not accurate.

Wow, that'd be a real disappointment compared to the earlier rumored setlist.  At the same time, Rush hasn't done a setlist that really floored me in quite some time.

Listening to MP the other night, it occurred to me that Camera Eye would be a fantastic way to return in the second set.  I thought that was a great idea when I saw the earlier setlist.

I love the setlist, I get Time Stand Still which was the #1 song I wanted.

No Jacob's Ladder, Entre Nous, or anything off of Test For Echo?  >:(

I'd be happy with any of those sets, personally. The only lame song is Presto.

For some reason, I'm not sure if this is 100% true. There were casting calls for the pre-song videos and one of the scripts mentioned Lakeside Park.

I am hoping that is not accurate.

Some of these choices look interesting. I'm happy they are playing "Faithless" (although "Hope" should really precede it), "Marathon", "Stick It Out" and "Leave That Thing Alone" (which would've been awesome before the drum solo, even though they did that 3 tours in a row)... "Presto" live should be interesting.

If "Jacob's Ladder" is being playing on an A/B rotational setlist, I would be VERY upset, especially if they record a night without it. Then again, which song would it replace? "Presto", or perhaps "Marathon"? Hopefully none of the CP tunes... I also don't like "Subdivisions" ending the first set, nor "Far Cry" ending the 2nd set.

As for the encore, I like it, but only if Lerxst finally pulls out an acoustic for the intro, which would be a REAL treat... also - full version of LVS this time around guys, pleeeeeease... I really hope "Working Man" is also a full version... that would make a 17-18 minute encore, that is, if there aren't any Lerxst rants this time around.

For being a "Time Machine Tour", they really missed the boat on dropping "Jacob's Ladder", and some other missed classics from their 80's albums (most of Power Windows and half of Hold Your Fire). No songs from GUP, RTB, TFE, or VT (a REALLY missed opportunity here)... kind of sad since there are a LOT of good, rarely played/unplayed songs from those albums...

Fail. I've been waiting for this song a long, long time live. But I do agree with Kev on the placement. I guess we will find out tomorrow night.

You know, as pleased as I am that Moving Pictures is getting played in full, looking at it now...I liked the set better when it was split through the encore. I dunno, something about it made more sense.
I'm also not crazy about this setlist. I don't really care that much about seeing Jacob's Ladder. I know its pretty groundbreaking to have it played live, but I'm not a fan of the song. Faithless and Presto are neat to see, but otherwise, the set looks sort of wrong...Subdivisions and Far Cry as the two set closers doesn't sit well with me. Plus the pacing of the first set is totally out of wack...

I see nothing wrong with the choice of songs, just the way in which they are arranged, and if Alex said they're bringing out Jacob's Ladder and rearranging it slightly, then I believe him.  This is probably just a rumor, no way would they follow TSOR with Time Stand Still.

You know, after browsing on the Rush forums for a bit, trying to sneak a peek at any new spoilers, I was reading the comments made on the rumored setlist and it reminded me of one important detail...
THIS IS GOING TO BE MY FIRST RUSH SHOW
I don't give half a shit what they play, thats all going to take a backseat to the experience itself.
So, I'm good no matter what they play.

Agreed.  On paper, if you listed all of those songs in chronological order, I would be happy with most of them, but the pacing of that first set just looks dreadful...on paper.  Of course, it could work like magic in person, but on paper, it just looks like a first set that will put most fans to sleep.  Seeing "Presto" for the first time will be neat, as that is a good song, and it will likely have more oomph that the studio original, but putting it in the 3rd spot will kill momentum quickly at most shows (since most will have no clue what it is, except for the biggest diehards).

Having said that, if "Marathon" is coming back, I will be very happy about that, and I will never get tired of "La Villa Strangiato."  I also would love to see "Leave That Thing Alone" come back, as that song rules in every way possible.

But if they really don't play "Jacob's Ladder" after Alex said they were going to...gah, what a massive disappointment that will be.  I guess we should have learned out lesson when he promised a major revamping of the set list for the second leg of the S&A tour in '08, and it got only a few minor changes (most of which were bringing back songs that get played all of the time anyway, except for "Ghost of a Chance").

What song is it on now?  Honestly its still Rush, so I won't mind the setlist, but I do think it'll be really bad if they don't pull out Jacob's Ladder like they said they would.

EDIT: I'm not a huge fan of JL, and La Villa Strangiato more than makes up for it.

Hearing new song >>> hearing Jacob's Ladder live.  Wonder whats with the whole "using numbers instead of words" thing thats going on with this new album...probably something to do with that clock theme, but that doesn't explain "Caravan."  Still excited BECAUSE ITS FUCKING RUSH

"Love 4 Sale" is most likely the name of Peart's new drum solo.  He always gives his drum solos names.

For now, I will just say that I am happy I looked at the set list.  Had I gone in blind, but expecting "Jacob's Ladder," I would have pissed at the end of the show after they didn't play.  At least now, I will have two months to get over it before my show.  :lol

Ah, good point, Kev.  Makes sense.  I guess I'm used to either "the Rhythm Method" or "the drummer" in another language.  I put the setlist into iTunes and I'm going to listen tomorrow, see how that goes.

I kinda wish "Animate" would see the light of day, especially after Neil called it one of their best songs in the documentary.

Being the "Time Machine" tour, how neat would it be if Neil put his solo in the middle of "Working Man" during the encore, and "Love 4 Sale" is what, as the setlist predictor's noted, would be an Alex solo-type song, or at least an Alex-centric song?

Guess we'll find out soon enough...
