My "Killer Queen" Cover
« on: May 21, 2010, 10:21:50 PM »
Who really looks into the "Arts and Creative Works" forum?
Exactly, only the people starting the threads.
With that in mind, I'm pimping my "Killer Queen" cover right here, in GD.

Enjoy.

This is precisely why I thought the Art & Creative Works forum was extraneous to begin with; the only people who read the threads there are the people who post in the forum in the first place. GD gets the most traffic so those looking for exposure are better off posting here anyway.

I've wanted to post the (very) few things I've done recently to GD but didn't feel like dealing with moved threads all the time.

I agree, I posted something in the musicians forum, but stuff there mostly gets ignored.

Which part(s) are you performing?  I'm not real familar with the original recording by Queen - particularly the instrument parts, but that sounded pretty good.

Bass, drums and piano are MIDI. I play guitar and sing. Vocals are a bit out of my range, but I was actually surprised at how much I liked the end result.

Listening now.  And you're right about the other subforum.  I rarely visit there.  Of course, most of my posting is done from work, when I can't really view/hear other things like that.  Can't speak for everyone else.

Nice work here, BTW.  Your guitars are gorgeous.

Unfortunately, that's one of my very least favorite Queens songs, so I'm no qualified to contribute much.

As for the subforum, I agree.  I've poked around in there once or twice, and made some comments to somebody who'd posted some piano work in there.  I doubt said person even noticed.   In the end I decided that even the people who post material in there don't pay enough attention to the posts, so why bother.

Very good.  A tiny bit pitchy on some parts, but lightyears ahead of what most people can do.
Great job!  :tup

Agreed. The subforum is kind of pointless, but at the same time, if we didn't have it, this forum would be barraged with those topics and then other topics would get buried quicker.

And I listened to it just for the guitar work, but I was pretty surprised with the vocals. Not bad at all, considering Freddie was the one of the greatest singers of all time.  :tup Guitars were killer, as expected.

While Rumby's point is valid, I am tempted to move this to where it belongs and start a discussion thread in forum suggestions regarding the sub-forum. That is what *should* have been done.

Wait... I think I'll just do that.

Sadly, yes. I got "parked".

I don't know. Not that I consider my recording an ultimately awesome piece of art, but this "I'm sorry, but we're gonna park your own effort in this never-seen thread, to make space for the next 'LOL' thread" is a bit sad, I find.

And nobody is gonna read this, either.
