A Comprehensive List of Porcupine Tree Songs
« on: May 20, 2010, 10:08:28 PM »
It recently occurred to me just how many sessions tracks and B-sides Porcupine Tree has, so I decided to make a comprehensive list. Rather than try to format it in here, I just took some screenshots and put them together. I've excluded demo versions of other songs (such as Sever Tomorrow for Sever) intentionally. What I'd like to know is, am I missing any?

The names in italics is the album on which the song can be found. In some cases, the songs are only available as bonus tracks, so I've noted that.

I used Wikipedia to compile this list. I wanted something all together for easy reference.

And there are also 3 different versions of TSMS, each of which has a different version of Moonlop, and some other changes.

Also, "Christenings" was a song written during the sessions for Deadwing, but later recorded by 3/4ths of PT for the second Blackfield album.

Yeah, whatever, never mind that.

And there are also 3 different versions of TSMS, each of which has a different version of Moonlop, and some other changes.

Again, those are just other versions of established songs; I didn't feel the need to include them.

I did consider that, but I would say it's officially a Blackfield song rather than a Porcupine Tree song.

Well all three versions also have different songs that others don't have (I think)

Were they, in fact, recorded BY PT themselves? Or just written? If they were just written and not recorded in any fashion (that may lead to being eventually released by PT), then they wouldn't count any more so than "Christenings" does...

I think he's more concerned with getting all their b-sides and such.

Oh, I see what you mean, my mistake.

European release

          - "Wire the Drum"
          - "Spiral Circus"
   2. "Dislocated Day" – 5:24
   3. "The Moon Touches Your Shoulder" – 5:40
   4. "Prepare Yourself" – 1:54
   5. "Moonloop" – 17:04
   6. "The Sky Moves Sideways Phase 2" – 16:46
          - "Is...Not"
          - "Off the Map"

American release
"The Sky Moves Sideways Phase 1"
        1. "The Colour of Air" – 4:39
        2. "I Find That I'm Not There" – 3:47
        3. "Wire the Drum" – 6:18
        4. "Spiral Circus" – 3:56
    5. "Stars Die" – 5:01
    6. "Moonloop" – 8:11
    7. "Dislocated Day" – 5:24
    8. "The Moon Touches Your Shoulder" – 5:51
"The Sky Moves Sideways Phase 2"
        9. "Is... Not" – 12:01

Expanded edition
   1. "The Sky Moves Sideways Phase 1" – 18:39
          - "The Colour of Air"
          - "I Find That I'm Not There"
          - "Wire the Drum"
          - "Spiral Circus"
   2. "Dislocated Day" – 5:24
   3. "The Moon Touches Your Shoulder" – 5:40
   4. "Prepare Yourself" – 1:58
   5. "The Sky Moves Sideways Phase 2" – 16:48
          - "Is...Not"

   6. "The Sky Moves Sideways (Alternate Version)" – 34:42
   7. "Stars Die" – 5:01
   8. "Moonloop (Improvisation)" – 16:18
   9. "Moonloop (Coda)" – 4:52

Yeah, I'm grouping the different Moonloops together, and yes, I'm excluding the Alternate Version of The Sky Moves Sideways. But aside from that, I think I covered all the bases.

You're missing 13 songs from The Incident.

Yeah, whatever, never mind that.

Those 13 songs don't matter?

I'm well aware that they are separate songs linked as a song cycle, but I'm grouping them together for the sake of simplicity.

I think he's more concerned with getting all their b-sides and such.

Yes, thank you.

Ah wait... yeah. I got confused. For some reason, I thought he listed all the tracks from The Incident rather than title it as one song, which by SW's words, isn't a single song but a song-cycle, so I think all the tracks/songs should be listed individually on your list.

P.S. - I'm really tired and should have read that more clearly before posting about "13 missing songs"... Oops. Time to sleep...

Yeah, I feel really stupid about it now, but I'm blaming it on the lack of sleep and being up so late after a long day at work...

You also missed Meantime, from the IA sessions, and Collapse (not to be confused with Collapse the Light Into Earth), the song that was originally going to open IA rather than Blackest Eyes. It is now the first song on Futile.

I didn’t know where to put this:

Octane Twisted 4LP Boxset – featuring ‘The Incident’ Live In Chicago - burningshed.com/store/porcupinetree

Available on LP for the first time across 7 sides of vinyl in a 4LP boxset with a new etching from long term designer Carl Glover

Yeah, with the official SW thread now closed down (I still don't understand why  :lol ) this might be the most accurate thread for this...
Of course, as a vinyl nerd, I already pre-ordered this. Two The Underfall Yards and two Octane Twisteds (one of each for me and my buddy); Burning Shed made quite a lot of money off me the past 3 days  :lol
