In much the same way that Paul Stanley and Ace Frehley used to, if we're doing a song where we're both playing the same part (this is similar to the above), I'll come up with different inversions in the same riff or play it in a different octave, so we sound more like two guitars playing instead of one big guitar.
If I'm playing a two string riff or something, sometimes I'll take the ring and pinky fingers of my pick hand and mute adjacent strings with them, so as to be sure to not sound them.
I never EVER realized how stylized my playing had become until I started trying to teach Mrs. Cozmo's kid how to play guitar. I realized "I have to deconstruct everything I know about playing guitar and every hand position, finger position, etc. in order to properly show him how to do it." Made it clear to me how specifically I have fine-tuned everything about how I approach the guitar. Pretty cool, actually.
