Okay, now that's just crazy talk. Endgame is their best since RIP. No doubt.

Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

Endgame is my favorite Megadeth album since Cryptic Writings. The few albums prior to this one weren't bad, they just didn't bowl me over.

I love United Abominations. It's actually in my top 5 Megadeth albums, and it's better than Endgame.

This.

Endgame

I agree. The main reason I'm quoting, however, is because I like how you classified those 3 albums. hahah

Just got a massive haul of 'deth bootlegs from 85-92.  At their prime they were freaking untouchable.

I've played Youthanasia yesterday, so many golden tracks. I love how melodic it is, although Cryptic writings is the one I enjoy more - those tunes are just too perfect.

I'll Get Even and Sin let down Cryptic Writings for me.  But I love the rest of it.  Youthanasia is still the best them.

Cryptic Writings is pretty weak for me. It's not that the songs are bad, they're mostly just boring. I'd say it's my least favorite Megadeth album.

I love CW.  First album to come out after I had become a fan of the band.

But Countdown is the best them!

Seriously, I love Peace Sells, Rust, and Countdown. They're all pretty much "FUCKIN A!" :metal. I know many people will mention Countdown as the best or their favourite.
Considering I have new headphones, I wouldn't mind giving Countdown a listen to hear how it sounds. Maybe the remix album, we'll see.

Likewise, if someone were to ask me for the pinnacle of thrash metal perfection, I'd give them RIP.  Countdown is just my personal favorite.  The music is still great (though getting a little more commercial and less technical), but it was really the rise in quality of both Dave's lyrics and vocals that makes it their marquee album for me.

Same here, except the Countdown part. I recognize RIP as their best, and it is my 2nd fave, but my personal fave actually goes to SFSGSW.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I'll give RIP the "best" award as well.  But Countdown, Youthanasia, and Risk are all VERY close behind.

I've heard a lot of people say this about the Megadeth remixes. I've only heard the original version of Rust in Peace and to be perfectly honest, I didn't really notice a huge difference. Now mind you, this was about six years ago when I barely knew anything about music, but still. What is it that makes the remixes so bad?

The guitars for one sound like utter shit. I don't know if it's the compression, but the new tone sounds awful to me. Maybe I'm just used to the tinny sounding production.

The remixes aren't bad. It's just that when you know and love an album the way it is, and you don't necessarily want a re-release, sometimes the changes can be jarring. I personally miss the intro of Insomnia.

???  They took out the intro to Insomnia on the remix?  Really?

I think the remix of RIP is awesome. It really beefed up the songs and they sound much better that way IMO.

I'll agree that the mix sounds a lot heavier than the original.  But, in remastering it, they've also ruined a lot of the things that made it awesome in the first place.  Examples that immediately spring to mind are;

1. The crappy vocal takes used in Lucretia that make Dave sound like that short, fat dude from Police Academy.

2. The replacement of Dave Ellefson's bass tapping break in Take No Prisoners with a crappy, tinny sounding clean guitar line.

3. The changes in vocals on Five Magics.  The lyrics are messed around with and the 'possessed with hellish torment' echoes just sound retarded.

I swapped my original copy with a friend for the remaster back in high school; worst. trade. ever.  Luckily the original is available on itunes, I just got that and my love for the album has been rekindled.
