Indeed.  I think we've taken this particular discussion as far as it will go.

Therefore, on a new note: "Holy Wars" and "Hangar 18" may be the best one-two punch to open any album ever  :metal :metal :metal

This.

And Justice For All is pretty weak, imo. It's long for no reason, really. It's awesome, but doesn't beat HW and RiP as a 1-2.

I feel just the opposite. To me, Endgame ranks as my #3 Megadeth album after SFSGSW and RIP.

I just couldn't dig it, it did absolutely nothing for me.  Boring songs, no interesting hooks, just generic run of the mill Megadeth.

I'm kinda in the same boat on Endgame.  I won't say that it's bad, because there IS an intensity and focus in the playing and production, but overall it doesn't touch the song-writing brilliance of Youthanasia or CTE.

The part after 'Diana....' in Wake Up Dead.  Awesome riff.  There are so many awesome Mustaine riffs though, hard to choose just one.

Not necessarily the best, but one of my faves that almost never gets mentioned is the riff to Black Curtains.  Nice, chunky, heavy, dark mid-temp riff.

So is cocaine.

Black Curtains is worse.

Debatable. I'm tempted to agree.

You're too young to be able to debate that...Just stick with Black Curtains.

So guys...

I like Rust in Peace.  A lot.  What Megadeth album should I get next.  Be warned that I've tried a lot of songs, and they've all been huge hits (Dialectic Chaos, Peace Sells) or huge misses (Skin O My Teeth, Wake Up Dead, Most of Endgame).  If they've got another album close to RiPs quality, then I might be totally sold on them.

Well there isn't another album even close to Rust in Peace, but I'd say Countdown to Extinction is their second best.

I agree that Countdown would be your next best bet, though I'm sure others will disagree.  It's got the same line-up as RIP, and I think it's the perfect cross between their more technical side and their more melodic side.  Granted, though, it's not nearly as technical as RIP.  The vocals and melodies, however, are a lot better, IMO.

Man, I was such a huge Deth fan years ago, but over the last 2 or so years, I've just totally lost interest in them.  I don't know what it is.  Chris Broderick IMO isn't bringing anything new or fresh to the band.  IMO, Glenn Drover was a fresh sound guitar wise for Deth, he wasn't as technically good as Chris, but Chris just seems like a robot to me who just copies the parts without adding anything personal to it.  Glenn's style worked better with Dave's IMO.

Sorry, just wanted to get that off my chest.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.
