Ok, now, I actually want to bring up a serious topic and I want to preface this by saying that this IS NOT A SLAP IN THE FACE TO MEGADETH OR ANY OTHER THRASH BAND!!!

How do you think bands like Slayer, Anthrax, and most importantly Megadeth (because of Dave's relations with Metallica) feel about Metallica being so much bigger than all of them combined. I mean, they all fathered a genre but they remained pretty steady was Metallica sky rocketed. Hell, Metallica headlines hundreds of thousands of people shows and I saw Megadeth and Slayer play for like 5 thousand. How do you think that makes them feel?

I think the rest of the big 3 can hold their heads high for staying true to their thrash roots.  Metallica's popularity skyrocketed because the moved away from that.

lol, no. Megadeth also moved away with Cryptic Writings and Risk, and Anthrax went for a more Hardcore Sound with Stomp 442.

Basically this. Actually, all 4 bands had their low points. Slayer just happened to not deviate too far from thrash.

I just pretend Undisputed Attitude never happened.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Yeah I was gonna make a point about Megadeth trying to do the same thing but couldn't really be assed.  You got me, bud.  Anthrax and Slayer I couldn't care less about.

There's nothing hardcore about Stomp 442..I don't understand.

Also lots of people were pretty surprised by Slayer during the South Of Heaven/Seasons days. Folks thought they were slowing down to gain a larger audience.

You've got to remember that back in the 80's, Metallica were head and shoulders better than the others. They opened the doors that the rest would go through. Sure, the Black Album shot to popularity, but that was a train that had been gathering substantial steam beforehand.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Yeah, but nobody sank as low as Metallica.

Listen again, its a grower.  Granted, some of the tracks are just bad, but there are some gems.

Hah, I don't think that would help. I liked Trust, Almost Honest, Use The Man, A Secret Place, and She-Wolf. But the album - as a whole - wasn't that good. I'm listening to deth's discog because I'm reading Megadave's book.

The Disintegrators is the best them.  I like all the songs except Sin, now that I think about it.  Thats such a crap song.

Yeah I remember when I discovered Hardcore Punk last year and I got that album because I didn't have it - and Slayer to me were fucking awesome, still are - I listened to it many times and it was pure and raw pissed offery. That's what I liked about it. After a while I forgot about hardcore and disliked it for some time but this year I revisited all the hardcore I had and it was even better than the first time! Now I'm solidly a fan of the genre.

Anyway I listened to Risk just then. Disappointed... Again.

It's better than its own reputation would lead to believe. Still not great, but a decent hard rock album if you look at it like that.

I agree, I enjoy Risk every now and then, both Time tracks are really good.
Crush Em and Prince of Darkness are awful and they bring down the whole album.

Crush 'Em is literally the only weak link on the entire album. The rest of the songs either have a really cool chorus or they're just good songs.

This.  And, after all, he is the ultimate metal head, so you should listen to him.  I mean, it's right there in his name and everything.

Megadeth is probably the most overdubbed band on the Big 4 DVD, but to be honest, I don't care all that much just because their set is just so badass.

Listening to Sudden Death right now. It's really good, and had they composed it before it would definitely be on Endgame... Better than some of the songs in that album, IMO.
