Well, you used to anyway.  I saw a fairly recent pic of you in the post-your-pic thread, and was kind of disappointed that apparently, since hitting puberty earlier this year, you aren't looking like him so much anymore.

Bosk thinks I look like him, so I guess that means I am. :p

Oh... I always thought you looked like George Carlin.

You can't listen to both bands? That's weird.

Weird is the sweetest word that can describe the situation with Ultimetalhead Metallica/Megadeth problems :lol

I got the Rude Awakening album as my first Megadeth experience because I wanted to hear The Mechanix (being a huge Metallica fan at the time, it made me very curious). I thought the song sucked, because that live version is really atrocious, but I ended up listening to a bit of the first disc and it was fucking sick. Dread and the Fugitive Mind, Kill the King, Wake Up Dead, and I was hooked.

Man Rude Awakening was such an awful DVD.
I became a Megadeth fan the same day I became a Metallica fan. I guess that's why I never turned my back on one of them or got into fights with dick Megadeth fans at school. I remember it that day and I'll always be grateful to the guy who introduced me to them, he just gave me Countdown to Extinction and The Black Album. He later explained to me that he needed to give me the heavy albums before the thrash albums which is a method I later used successfully to convert fans of different music genres to metal :lol, you gotta lure them in.

Tee-hee.

Contrary to popular belief, the reason I'm a Megadeth elitist is because I think Megadeth makes better music, not because Metallica sucks.

Me too.  (except I wouldn't call myself a Megadeth elitist)  I enjoy both bands, but I think Megadeth has put out a larger number of good songs/albums, and I think their songs are, for the most part, just a bit better.  For me, I'm fine not owning a Metallica album other than Ride the Lightning, Puppets, AJFA, and the black album (and I LOVE those 4).  I like other songs here and there throughout their catalog, but not enough to spend money on an entire album.  For Megadeth, other than the pre-RIP albums (and if you are seeing a pattern with both of these bands, it is probably because there is one--I'm just not a fan of that early thrash sound; I like the bit more refined sound both bands came up with later), there is enough to enjoy on all their albums that keeps me coming back and buying them.

So......Who's interested in this years Gigantour.

Since they're touring with Lacuna Coil, will they play A Tout Le Monde w/ Christina Scabbia.

Probably.  :\

Zook

I was never a fan of that song, and the version with Scabbia is even worse.

^ I said this in the Youthanasia survivor last year and I almost had shoes thrown at me Iraqi style.

Just gave RIP a listen. Easily the best Megadeth album.

Now, I'm listening to Peace Sells.

Rust in Peace was my first Megadeth album and believe it or not I bought be because I thought the cover looked cool.  I was totally taking a chance, because I had not heard one note of Megadeth up to that point.

The album blew my fucking mind  :eek :hefdaddy :eek - from there I worked my way backwards through their catalog, and to this day, while owning everything they've ever released, I don't think they've ever made a record as solid a Rust In Peace

Some really fun tracks in there to cover too.  I was in a band for a while that did nothing but Metallica and Megadeth covers (on bass guitar) and some of those tracks are pretty challenging.

Interesting.  The first time I heard that album, it turned me off.  It was hard for me to get past the overall sound and enjoy just how good the songs were at the time.  Kind of reminds me of Mindcrime, which sort of had similar production values in that it deliberately had a very cold, harsh production quality that I found very offputting at first.  The much warmer sound on Countdown is what really pulled me in, hooked me, and made me a fan.  Then Youthanasia came out, and I realized this was a band that had some serious good things to offer, and I went back and really got into RIP at that time.  To me, RIP-Youthanasia (and included the Hidden Treasures EP) was the golden age for their sound.  Other than a few songs here and there, I don't like the earlier albums.  With Cryptic Writings, I felt like they went too far in making a slick, polished, friendly-for-the-masses album, although there are definitely some strong tracks.  Risk was a glorious experiment and comes in for me at #4 behind the "big 3" albums mentioned above.  After that, it's sort of hit-and-miss, where on any given albums, I like some songs and skip others.

I never really got into Youthanasia too much.  And I found their early stuff a bit difficult to digest.  I think my second-favorite record would probably be "Countdown To Extinction"  Haven't really liked too much of the modern stuff, although I thought "The System Has Failed" had some good tracks on it.

I agree about the sound quality, though.  "Rust In Peace" is very raw and sort of blunt, sonically.  But looking back, I think that's one of the things that made it great.  I think it's also probably Marty Friedman's best performance with the band.

Progmetty

The System Has Failed is still my favorite post-break up album.

The original version of A Tout Le Monde is awesome. The new version is not.

And Endgame is the best reunion album, silly.

Endgame was pretty boring honestly,  Headcrusher and two other songs were good while the rest of the album was meh and passable.

Yep. I still like Metallica's 80s records but Megadeth tops them during every comparable era.

I've never really been a big fan of Mustaine's voice. It's always been something I've merely tolerated because the music itself was awesome. He is much, much worse now though.

contest_sanity

I love his voice from the 90's!

Now, or the 80's, not as much.

Kotowboy

Sorry, what does FIFM mean ?

The King in Crimson

Kotowboy

Ah ok. I thought it might mean that.

However... never having Heard Neutral Milk Hotel, I chose Vampire Weekend, who are hands-down the

single WORST band i've ever heard in my life.

Not bad. I'm pretty bummed that it's sounding like CTE part 2, but I guess I should have expected a bit of a slowdown after Endgame.

Either way, new Megadeth is something I'll always be excited for.  :metal

The King in Crimson

Yeah, it does have kind of a CtE vibe doesn't it?

Well, I'm at least glad that the vocals don't sound awful like on Endgame and UA.

Dark Castle

That was extremely boring, I'm not going to lie.
And jesus christ those lyrics.  I think I'll pass on this album. :tdwn
EDIT:  I really like it on youtube when fans get really butthurt and have to innacurately tell me other bands I give as examples suck and I'm just a HATR.

obscure

I like it.... I dig Megadeth sound anyway....
