In my high school's talent show, everybody made it into the show, no matter how bad they were, so each band only gets one song, and to make it even worse, it has to be around 3:00. We have time to decide, but does DTF have any good classic/hard rock or metal tunes that would fit the bill?

Thank you two, those songs will be considered by the band. Here are some I came up with:

Alice In Chains - "Would?", "Them Bones"
Led Zeppelin - "Communication Breakdown"
Metallica - "Motorbreath"
The Offspring - "Come Out And Play"
Pantera - "Primal Concrete Sledge"
Iron Maiden - "Running Free", "Run To The Hills"
Judas Priest - "Living After Midnight", "Breaking The Law"
Rage Against The Machine - "Bulls On Parade"
System Of A Down - "Toxicity"

Primal Concrete Sledge would be awesome if you nail it, I'd vote for you.

By the way, I'm the drummer, so if you wanna pick a song that's a little flashy on the skins that's be cool.  :D

I have a very good grip on it. I usually play "Cowboys From Hell" and "PCS" in succesion.

Would? is fun to play. And easy too.
Agreed

Do you have a singer that can sing all these? Run to the Hills is a very tasking song. Either way, do what you want to play regardless of what you think people will like. If you play it well and enjoy yourself, people will generally enjoy your performance because they can tell both of those things.

Yeah that's a good point about the singing. Our singer is pretty good, so I think he can handle most of these songs. He said he's leaning towards playing some Alice In Chains.

Do a shorter version of Lust for Life by Iggy Pop. Or Twisting By The Pool by Dire Straits. :D

When I said "flashy on the drums," I expected you guys to come up with stuff a little bit more interesting and talented then Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy. Pshh

I see you included Running Free in one of your lists. Our band plays that one. It's a good choice

Yeah my old band (with one member of my current one) played for our covers: "Running Free", "Symphony Of Destruction" by Megadeth, "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, and closed with a big drawn out ending for "For Whom The Bell Tolls" by Metallica.

Immigrant Song, if your singer is up to it.
Gadough isn't Hitler. He's much, much worse.

Judas Priest - "Breaking The Law"

If you do this one, you'd better play it with the solo they tend to include in live performances. The song is only so-so without it.

Iron Man by Black Sabbath would steal any show.  Everyone knows it, it's easy to play (you can shorten it to ~3:00 and no one would know), you can have your own guitar solo if you like, and it rocks the fuck out.

I AM IRON MAN!
