Try the new 100 barrel series from Harpoon.  It's called White IPA.  Think Allagash white ale with hops.  It's very good.

Bottled up an English Barleywine tonight (half aged on french oak cubes that I soaked in Woodford Reserve... and then added a couple ounces of Woodford Reserve at bottling) and drank a year old bottle of Firestone Walker Parabola while I was doing it. Bourbon barrel aged Russian Imperial Stout ftw :hat

Sweet.  My brother linked some picks of our pumpkin ale going into the secondary staging.  He added the spices.  Can't wait to try it in about 5 weeks.

I have not. I meant to pick up a Sam Adams winter pack, just never got around to it.

Right now I'm sipping on a Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter, which is pretty nice. Idly daydreaming about what I'm going to brew to fill the homebrew kegs I got for Christmas :D

Yeah, the White Christmas is just ok.  That Chocolate Bock is better.

Going to check out a new brewer in NH Friday.  Blue Lobster is the name and I am picking up a few 750ML.  Will report back.

Nice hoppy aroma and taste.

Visited a new-ish NJ brewery called Kane (just released their first anniversary beer). Had glasses of their Belgian single, Belgian IPA, and Belgian strong dark ale (I swear I didn't plan that :lol). I took home a growler of a special version of their year round IPA (which is excellent in its own right) that had some rye added to the grain bill and a couple 750s of the aforementioned anniversary beer,  that being a blend of Belgian strong dark ale and bourbon barrel imperial stout.

After that hit a local bar and had a round each of Sam Smith's Winter Warmer and North Coast Old Rasputin. I've now ticked 44 of the 45 beers on their MBA (Masters in Beer Appreciation) syllabus. After I order a Chimay Blue on New Year's Eve, I get a t-shirt, my name up on the wall, a $15 gift card, and free upgrades from 16oz to 20oz pint servings for life :hat

So in 3 week my brother and I start on our Russian Imperial Stout.  Then wait a year for it.  That's not fair.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. If it turns out to be good, and I get some more, I'll send you a bottle.

Mmmmm, imperial stout. Just make sure you don't leave it in the fermentation bucket for too long, either bottle it and age it, or siphon it after a month or so into a different container for bulk aging.

Just poured a rye imperial IPA from a Mississippi brewery called Lazy Magnolia, and a friend surprised me at work today with a box of Sam Adams big bottle releases (Gingerbread Stout, Chocolate Chili Bock, Sahti, and Oaked Blonde Barleywine) because her husband works for the local Boston Beer distributor.

Man, you guys do not mess around :lol Just make sure to keep an eye on how long you keep the beer in there. The surface area to volume ratio is way higher with a five gallon barrel than it is with the full size barrels that breweries use. Your beer will probably pick up all he oak flavor you want in days to weeks, rather than months to years.

Smuttynose Gravitation 2013 is outstanding.  Malty, boozy, a great rum soaked raisin flavor.  Man I'm loving it.

Glad to see this thread resurrected. I'm celebrating the end of a hellish week at work (65 hours from Monday-Saturday, including 48 over the last four days. My last day off was 12 days ago), and I just cracked my last bottle of JW Lees Harvest Ale from 1999. This barleywine is ~14 years old, and it's absolutely stunning. It's well oxidized, but there's also still a strong caramel backbone.

Yeah bottles of this popped up at a spot I used to go to in NYC  a couple years ago I ended up grabbing three bottles, and last night I drank the last of them. Wish I had bought a bunch more though. That was easily the oldest bottle in my cellar. Now that honor belongs to a couple bottles of Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout from 2005.

I downed a bomber of Hoppin' Frog DORIS (Double Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout) last night. Man, that is some great stuff. Along with pretty much everything Hoppin' Frog brews. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.

Had some Green Flash Palate Wrecker today, which is also quite delicious if you're into IPAs.
