Big love on the Sah'tea.  Unique is the only way to define it and I love how out there Dogfish Head is.

I too was disappointed with Breckenridge Vanilla Porter.  Good yes.  Great, no.

You can never go wrong with Unibroue.  I took the tour 7 years ago and I just love the culture and the beer portrays that.  Class beer all the way.

I've got to say anything from Sierra Nevada just isn't good enough.  There's something I just don't like about all it's beers.

And finally, I need to get off my as and homebrew.  I've got the kit which make me even lazier. :lol

Did a little blog redesigning this afternoon after posting a massive homebrew intro. Tonight is my last night off of beer this week before I break back into it after a bottling session tomorrow :metal

First blog entry of the day is up on this afternoon's bottling https://bit.ly/pNQfhW and there'll be another one tonight on today's beers. First one is Belvidere Big IPA from Rock Art, which is a bit underwhleming to be honest.

Photobucket sucks.

My brother's wife was up visiting family and my brother had a gig in Mass so he drove up the next day and on the way he made a pit stop and he sampled everything.  He called me on his cell to rave so I must go and try all of them.  It's my beer civic duty.

3 beer day today.  After mowing the lawn I cracked open a Shipyard Pumpkin Ale.  Never can go wrong with that beer.  Then the wife and I moved onto a Smuttynose fall release from it's big beer series.  Farmhouse Ale.  I know it's your favorite style Bill and I'm with you.  Very high though on the alcohol scale.  Lastly I had a resurrected beer that Magic Hat did for it's fall variety pack.  A red ale that pours dark.  Malty and just a touch of smokiness a favorite of mine 10 years ago.  So glad they brought it back.

I can't stand how beer companies roll out their seasonal beers a good month or two before the season actually starts. August 1st I went to look for a summer beer and the store already had their Octoberfest beer instead. It's freaking two months until October. Now all the other brands are switching over as well. As much as I love fall beers, I enjoy them in the fall when it's cool, not in the summer when it's hot.

I know... I saw Halloween candy at the grocery store the other day. For a second I thought it was clearance stuff from last Halloween still. Then I realized that Haloween is only two and a half months away, so logically, it's time to start stocking up.

Last night the wife and I tried Stone Old Guardian Belgo Barley Wine Ale.  Very heavy on the booze side at 12%.  Loved the color in the glass, a burnt orange and it had a quick and bold flavor.  Not the best barley wine I've had but very good.

I really like that one, dig the Belgian yeast combined with the hops. A lot of people seem to not particularly like the Belgian strain Stone usually uses though.

Haven't tried that one, we only get FW's special releases, but they are all phenomenal. Firestone Walker is one of my absolute favorite breweries.

Tonight I had a bottle of Great Lakes Oktoberfest, which was pretty solid. Now I'm on to a bomber of Stone's 15th Anniversary beer, a massive (10.8%), hopped to the gills black IPA. Really digging it :hat

I'll get a blog post up about yesterday in a bit, but the short version is that it was an epic day of drinking. I spent the first half of the day drinking a bunch of Cantillon at a bar while waiting for a special worldwide tapping of a new, limited release one off from them. I was having some beers at another bar later on and ran into Todd Alstrom (one of the BA founders) and his wife (who runs the volunteers for the festivals) along with one of the staff captains for the fests and his wife. Ended up grabbing a couple drinks with them before making my way home.

Won't be able to make a run to any decent place til sunday for good beer so I made the mistake of grabbing a Sam Adams 12er mix of Boston Lager, Octoberfest, Black Lager, Irish Red, Pumpkin Ale, and Bonfire Rauchbier. I've either gotten pickier over time or their quality is slipping a tad. The Pumpkin Ale and Rauchbier were okay (and nothing more) but the Red, Boston Lager, and Octoberfest had me drinking more quickly just to (hopefully) get on to something more flavorful. I'm going try the Black Lager which I've only had one other time in celebration of the Score DVD release.
