I have the beginning of This Dying Soul as mine, and as an alarm clock atm. Pretty funny when it goes off accidentally in lectures.
Every story needs to have an ending, we might as well give up all this pretending and clear the air...

I used to use from the acoustic break in Octavarium (you know the one in the instrumental section where the acoustic does that little riff alone) until about 30 seconds past that.  I always enjoyed it.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

"Sucking on his pipe" on a 45 second loop.
Side note: I am totally going to attempt to make this into a ringtone sometime this week.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Use the piano intro from "Through My Words."  It is soft, it is nice, and it won't scare the hell out of you every time your phone rings.
I had the James Bond theme as my main tone and it scared the hell out of me every time someone called.

I have the main riff from "Killing is My Business..." as my ringtone...if I get a call and I'm sleeping, I wake up pretty freaked out.

Forget Dream Theater. Just put Roboturner by Between the Buried and Me as your ringtone.

the start of the intsrumental sexion for solitary shell would be pretty  :metal. I should do that, if I knew how

"Sexion" is a fitting way to describe it.

The beginning to Honor They Father.
that's a scary choice.

as some of you mentioned i prefer the acoustic guitar cords at the beginning of solitery shell.

oh, i got it. the most suitable DT song for ringtone would be the creative distinctive keyboard solo riff (i don't know how to categorize it), i think it would be advisable to choose the section played by derek sherinian in that bootleg birthday album.

Best 45 seconds of DT is the last 45 seconds of "Losing Time / Grand Finale"

Who cares man..

Anyway, I made a few for my iPhone over the years. I think it's time for some new ringtones.
• Learning To Live - outro
• Misunderstood - from beginning
• The Best Of Times - 8:49 when JLB says, "that carried me for miiiiles." That part, except it's the instrumental version of the song that came with the special edition
• V. Goodnight Kiss - 1:51 Beautiful

I don't understand this.  The guy's answer wasn't DT.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

The bands are related. I doubt the OP cares that an LTE song was suggested. It's not an issue. Move on.

I had the intro to Honor Thy Father as a text ring for a while.

Me too! But ringtone rather than text.

Haha that is my ringtone right now. Always gets some attention on the bus. For when I don't want to scare the public though I change it to Selkies. My text tone is the first 2 seconds of Mordecai, cut it off just before the vocals start. It's awesome
