Am I allowed to post?
The session was great. Jordan did live jams on stage using some incredible iPad apps. I was rushing around taking care of things, so I didn't get the names. But one of them was called Looptastic, and I can definitely see that app being used extensively in a live music creation setting. Then another was in beta, and featured a wizard (a digital representation of Jordan!) singing notes and chords based on where you put your fingers. Then a third had a piano keyboard and a galaxy-like vortex that would spin based on the speed of your playing. That one was awesome! Again, I'll get the names for everyone when I speak with Jordan again. I believe the latter two apps were preview versions of ones he's working on for sale in the Apple iPad store.
A gentleman named Uri Nieto from Stanford CCRMA also came by and demo'd his very cool iPad app that was based on software called ReacTable. It pretty much blew my mind because I've been envisioning touch-screen music creation software similar to that for years. And a controllerist named Moldover (
https://www.moldover.com) also stopped in for a surprise visit to show off his custom-built Mojo controller. Jordan rocked out improv-style with both of them.
The highlight of the night for me, though, was when our COO & Composer Paul Lipson jammed on stage with Jordan. Paul's an accomplished jazz guitarist, and Jordan was rocking an iPad. That was some great music! They finished up and Jordan said to him on stage, "Wanna make an album?" Very cool moment.
We've got video of the whole event that we'll be cutting together. Once it's available, we'll let folks know.
And thanks to this entire community for your support of this event. On behalf of all the guys at Pyramind, I really appreciate your hospitality.
Rock on!
