I'll check it out... but I am a bit curious.

Also... do they really have to start hyping an album so far away from the release date?

Love the concept, not sure how I feel about that bit of music.

It's three months away and they've only just announced the title. That's pretty much the standard promotion period.

Unless the ETA's changed?

Oh my...it's Muse playing with fire once again. Let's see if it results in them being incredibly successful once again or this one proves to be a failure.

Not sure if that dubstep bit at the end is actual music from the album.  I'm concerned if it is.  No matter what, I just hope its better than the Resistance.

Wow bandwagon jumping much? Both content and music.

Still maintain Showbiz was their best.

Well as for the video content, Muse have always been into that kind of stuff.  That's nothing new.

Not exactly what I was expecting based on some of the band's comments about the new album.  Still, it sounds interesting, and of course it's only a trailer - it's not as though the whole album is dubstep.  Or, at least, I sincerely hope not.
Sincerely,
Jaffa

Wow, I just got into Muse a couple of months ago, and they're already putting out a dubstep album. However, I have no idea what dubstep is, so can I really be concerned about that?  :lol It sounds different, it doesn't rock out that much, but then again, neither did The Resistance. We'll see how the album works, I'm glad I fell in love with this band so I can be excited for their new album for the first time.

Believe it's all from a song called Entropy.

Also gonna hazard a guess that Entropy's track one on the new album. Because listen to it!

This has happened before with Muse. Twice.

Both Black Holes and Resistance were incredibly expected albums, and before their respective releases people were like "OMG MUSE SOLD OUT"

Also, after digesting this trailer, I mean...Muse has ALWAYS done this kind of sound. Every time they finish a damned song live, they riff and Matt does this strange thingeys with his Kaoss Pad plugged in to his guitar  :lol I think people are taking it way too seriously.

That sounded frickin' awesome. Clearly they won't be doing a full album of it (come on, even in that teaser trailer it was only the last 20 seconds that was dubstep) but the epic buildup leading into that solid dubstep was really nicely done. I was actually getting a bit unfussed about Muse in the last year or so but this has got me really excited again!

Hm. Not opposed to the idea of dubstep elements. Problem is, it's uninspired dubstep in the clip.

Well, nevertheless I'll be checking it out.

(come on, even in that teaser trailer it was only the last 20 seconds that was dubstep)

In fairness, it did sort of feel to me like that was when the song was meant to really 'kick in'.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if that particular song is pretty heavy on the dubstep.

But I agree with you that the whole album won't be like that.
Sincerely,
Jaffa

Oh yeah I imagine the song will mostly stick with that style (assuming of course that it's on the album), just that I don't think the whole album will be like that.

Then again, the band have said that this album is a fairly big change for them, and that there is more electronic influence, so who knows.

Rich is like the Muse hipster. Whatever popular opinion is about something they've done recently, he takes the opposite side. :lol

But I agree that it's unlikely there is too much of the end of that promo on the album.

In DTF terms, it does seem that way sometimes. :lol But Muse are bigger and more popular than ever so I'm not sure there's anything "hipster" about me liking their stuff. :P

Besides, I enjoy a bit of dubstep, and my mate and I were just talking about how much we like this teaser because it sounds like a cross between Muse and Pendulum. I like electronic music and so I'm very excited to hear what Muse can do when bringing that influence in. I absolutely adore Undisclosed Desires, which I guess had a bit of that on a more mellow level.

I liked the stuff before the brostep thing (that's not real dubstep btw), and I liked the brostep part a bit less, but still liked it. I will buy the album.

One thing though... If Matt isn't doing that shit on guitar, I won't like it as much. I don't want a good band like Muse resorting to programming every single second of their songs. They already sound a bit too synthetic for my tastes.
I only listen to electro-post dubprog.  You've probably never heard of it.

Whenever Muse goes dancy, dubstep or whatever, it is almost always good, so I say bring it on. The music in that trailer was a bit out there, but I am confident that this album will be a good one.  Even thought The Resistance was slightly disappointing, it was still a good, solid record.

The whole dubstep trend is getting a bit ridiculous by now. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy dubstep (if done well), but right now so many are jumping on that wagon.

Off topic a little bit but check out some blackmill for seriously great dubstep.

I'd go as far as to say my only problem with The Resistance is that it's a bit vanilla. All the songs on it are fine at worst, great at best. But for a band as exciting as Muse, that's a cardinal sin.

Still not a massive fan of the last thirty seconds of the teaser, but it's already growing on me a little, god help me. And the orchestral bit is fun on a bun through and through. Either way, I've missed being shocked. Absolutely cherishing it. I'm repulsed, but not in the least bit sceptical. Album's going to be ace. And in two years' time I'm going to sorely miss this brand of bafflement.

Muse can dubstep all they want, I just want something better than The Resistance. Three years later and I still can't get into that one.

Uprising has always been a bland song for me. Undisclosed Desires, MK Ultra and Unnatural Selection are my personal favorites from The Resistance.
