Whitesnake also comes to mind as a true blues-rock and hair metal band.  Tons of others were blues-influenced, but as far as really having blues at the core of their sound, Whitesnake should jump right to the forefront.

I always found the Crue to be very bluesy at their core...only it was filtered through glam, sleaze, strippers and cocaine.

Agreed.  The key to that was Mick Mars transforming his blues chops into his trademark sleaze-metal riff sound.  Ten Seconds to Love!!!

Sir GuitarCozmo

Rather fitting - I've chosen to make the Crue's version of "Smokin' in the Boys' Room" our opener for Saturday night.

You should write and perform an original song called "Teh River."

Sir GuitarCozmo

Hahahaha.  I will take that into consideration.

Whenever I leave work, I come down one of the kinda side streets that runs perpendicular to Front Street, along the Susquehanna River.  Often, when I reach and turn onto Front Street, I (embarassingly enough) cannot stop myself from pointing and doing my best Geddy Lee "TEH RIVER!!" impression.

Sir GuitarCozmo

Well, I just have to sing it like normal, but I guess I really SHOULD try to pronounce it "teh".  Somehow.

Did you ever get to see that Mr. Big show yet?

bosk1

It's next on my list after finishing my boss's Taldega Nights DVD that he lent me several months ago.

Sir GuitarCozmo

I'm looking forward to your review.  The G3 stuff is pretty good.  I love that there's an outlet like that for shredders to do just that and not be snubbed for it.  Great set lists from all on that one.

bosk1

Yeah, definitely.  And the DVD isn't bad at all for fan-shot footage.

The big four?

I missed this earlier.

Is there any other way?  Although, if I had my way, I'd replace the cocaine with legendary amounts of Jack.

Let's see how much good shit I can pack into one day, shall we?

Because of this thread, I am doing a Badlands marathon this morning.

Sir GuitarCozmo

Outstanding.  An old buddy of mine that knows me well enough to know my taste in music suggested the following "must-haves" when I asked him for hair metal suggestions:

Bulletboys -- Bulletboys
Def Leppard -- High n Dry and Pyromania
Dokken -- Back for the Attack
LA Guns -- L.A. Guns
Skid Row -- Skid Row
Tora Tora -- Surprise! Attack
Whitesnake -- Whitesnake

Yeah, I know, Def Leppard and Whitesnake aren't necessarily "hair metal" but they're within reach.  I do have Whitesnake, Skid Row and Back for the Attack.  I'm familiar with the Def Lep albums also, so I'm left a little unfamiliar with the Bulletboys, L.A. Guns, and Tora Tora albums.  Anyone familiar?

Bulletboys  one and only hit  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obgDJazEftU

Tora Tora  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gKs4yiiCaG0   nothing original here

Sir GuitarCozmo

Smooth Up In Ya, I know and it's not bad.  I've actually had several people tell me to check out the Bulletboys.  I'm pretty much on a kick to suck up any old hair metal I can, so that I can become even more of an authority on it.  :)

Not a Bulle Boys fan at all.  Sorry.  I gave them a shot back in '91.  Didn't take.

:metal  I'm going to have to find some people who can play some Badlands.  I'd love to demo a few songs of theirs if someone could lay down the instrumental tracks.

I always liked Saigon Kick.  saw them open up twice for Extreme.

Great tune.  They were another suggestion of my old singer.  Others he suggested are:

Black n Blue -- Black n Blue
Blue Murder -- Blue Murder
Dangerous Toys -- Dangerous Toys
Jackyl -- Jackyl
Loverboy -- Get Lucky
Ratt - Dancing Undercover
Saigon Kick -- Saigon Kick and The Lizard
Shotgun Messiah -- Second Coming
Vixen -- Vixen
White Lion -- Pride

That list tells me one thing, Coz:  You're getting older; a little bolder; you're in the lost and found.

Sir GuitarCozmo

Older and Bolder?  Hell, I'm 18 and I barely make a sound.

But for the purposes of shameless self plugging, I make a sound on our website (www.myspace.com/brokincyrcle).  Just uploaded our "demo".  Basically 5 cover tunes chopped up into under a minute pieces and run into one continuous song.  I sing the first 4, my guitarist sings the last.

Saigon Kick's The Lizard has some awesome stuff on it, Cozmo.

Not familiar with that album.  Who's it by?

bosk1

Can't believe I never actually saw this video before:  Warlock - All We Are.  Classic '80s.  Too bad they were kinda overlooked here in the states.  I remember trading away my copy of Appetite For Destruction for this Warlock album--yes, it's that good.

Another semi-obscure one:  Kick Axe - On The Road To Rock.  Just... :metalol:

Lastly:  House Of Lords - Can't Find My Way Home

Enjoy, me little glammies.  Enjoy.

All We Are is killer.  Fantastic choice.  Just makes you want to pump your fist in the air and shout along.

On the Road to Rock.  :metalol: is right.  Good tune, but it looks like these guys raided the dressing room that Manowar and Twisted Sister were sharing.  :rollin

House of Lords, I know we'd discussed them before.  Another band I really need to check out, for certain.
