so when I bought my R6 it was damaged on the left side. The guy I got it from was a little bit older and got it as a first bike. He bent the shifter and damaged the stator cover, as well as few scrapes here and there.

I say get a new clutch cable and get the bike running. If it rides straight and isn't giving you any issues you can look at replacing fairings. You'd get them all replaced in a weekend if you wanted to, if you get oem fairings. Unless there is some underlying frame or engine damage the price they quoted you is absurd, I'm eagerly awaiting what the charged you with.

I'm eagerly awaiting it as well and you will be the first to know.

In the meantime, just off of ebay alone, I was able to get a clutch lever, foot peg, mirror, bar ends, and rear turn signal indicator for $40 dollars total.

I also got aftermarket black plastics for $275, so roughly $300 dollars vs $4700.  :lol

And like you said, if this thing rides ok, might just keep it. Haven't completely made up my mind yet.

There is a big markup on bikes, at least in my area. Since they are seen as recreational vehicles, espiecially sport bikes, you'll get charged up the ass for parts.

Phoenix, you'll know immediately if it's ok or not. I've ridden a few beat up bikes that were used as stunt bikes or took a big spill and the bike felt like a walmart $99 bicycle. Going from pics I would be absolutely shocked if you had frame, fork, or suspension damage.

To Herrick's point, I would say they were bullshiting me. They said over the phone that it only looked like there wasn't a lot of damage until they looked at it closer. Gonna call bs on that because my friend who has ridden for decades looked it over really well and said it wasn't that bad. So I am guessing they wanted to see if i would go for it, and I didn't.

And Reaper, I agree. This thing might just be ok to keep, which would definitely be the best case scenario. I'm definitely gonna try and do full diagnostics once I get it back and fixed up. If I can keep it and get it back on the road, I definitely will.

Got the bike back today.

The paperwork the repair place gave me SAYS NOTHING... All it says is "Collision estimate" on the invoice and the cost which was $108 dollars.
So we'll never know what they thought needed to be repaired. So screw them. I'll never go there again  :yeahright

Regardless, I am glad its back. Let the repairing begin and ideally I would like to be back on the road sometime next week

Yea the place was definitely trying to rip you off, what shop doesn't give you an itemized invoice.

Yeah its been cold and the rain sucks.

In other news, today was a happy day. 300 bucks for parts off ebay and 2 hours of labour later, I was back in the saddle:

Still waiting for the turn signal, so I had to get a little ghetto for the time being, but it works

Besides that, its basically back to where it was. Just some minor finishing touches to take care of when I get a chance but I'm happy. I took it out for about 20 mins just to feel it out. Seems to run pretty well. Function wise, I'm not seeing any issues, so game on.

$4700 my ass...   :lol

Not really. Doesn't really interest me that much. But after playing around with that clutch lever, I think I'm gonna swap that and the brake lever for the shorter race levers.

Fantastic day of riding today. Went and got ice cream

So here's the deal. "Dirt" flavor icecream was just Ok, aka the ice cream version of "dirt" cups, so Chocolate ice cream with oreo pieces and gummy worms. Great in the cup with pudding, but doesn't translate to ice cream very well. Cotten candy is usually my go to flavor.

Was out for a good 3 hours and the Bike runs flawlessly. So I am very happy.
I find myself riding more conservatively post crash, but its all good. Probably for the best.

What do you guys think about these Zero electric motorcycles:

I'm kind of fascinated by them. This one, the $19,000 SR/F model, is supposed to have torque so wild that it can hang with Hyabusas and H2's. There's no latency of a combustion engine. Its instantly accessible power, and they are dead quiet. The only drawback that would stop me from pulling the trigger on one is the 100 ish mile range. I would like something like 250.

I think I'm gonna try and test ride one of them this summer if I can.

Here goes a Do it with dan video where he demos it

That is a nice bike. The price is a little steep at the moment but I'd love to take it for a ride.

Got the new levers installed today.

Overall, I like them. They took a little playing around with, but I'm almost used to them at this point. It is nice that they force you to use just 2 fingers, racing style.

Then I took the bike out for a few hours. Great day.

I am always crossing my fingers that I don't get a bolt in my tire. That sucks  :P

Reap, what exhaust do you have? I have the stock pipe on right now which is fine, but I was checking out videos for Toce and Yosh and they sound so damn good. I just don't want cops to hear me coming from a mile away. I like the somewhat stealthy aspects of the stock pipe.

** If I get a cruiser, the first thing I'm gonna do is get Vance and Hines pipes. I don't plan on going all that fast on a cruiser anyway

I have a two brothers exhaust that came with the bike. I also had another shorty pipe on it for a while but it was next level loud. Yoshi exhausts are really nice! Would you do a slip on or full exhaust?

Most likely it would be a slip on. I like wrenching on the bike and everything, but I'm also kinda lazy  :lol

So a slip on would probably be the way to go for me if I every ended up doing it.

The pilots are a great tire too. I think the only tire that I didn’t care for was a set of diablos I had for a brief time. I took them off and sold them and got q3s

Kinda jonesing for a cruiser lately.

If somehow/someway a Harley dealership would give me like 6 grand for the CBR 600, I could see myself getting a $10,000 dollar low rider. Blue book and NADA book is saying $5000 trade in, but one can hope  :P

Which year Low Rider are you looking at? I've been thinking of saving up for a new one but it's financially better for me to buy used...but the consensus is the new ones ride so much better. Butt I've never ridden a new one or an old one so it might not even matter if the new ones are better.
