Kings of Leon
« on: March 22, 2010, 09:26:31 PM »
As Perpetual Change once said, and I am paraphrasing: This is an example of mainstream rock done well.

From what I've checked of them, I've liked it. That cover that Paramore did of "Use Somebody" is incredible.

Also, Lynzie Kent did a great rendition of this song in her bedroom. Great voice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7P7qB23ZhA
The Concert Channel will be passing their concert this month and I am looking forward to tune it.

Anyone else a fan?

I've never listened to them, but I almost bought one of their albums on a whim.

What's more impressive is that they beat out all those hip-hop/rap acts for that big award awhile back.  "Use Somebody" is a great song.  I'd like to check out some more of their music soon, aside from what little I've heard.  If it's anywhere near as good as "Use Somebody," then mainstream rock isn't completely dead.  It's nice to see a band that isn't emo sounding or Nickelback sounding be successful.

Only By The Night is a great album.  As is Aha Shake Heartbreak.  They're the only two I've heard.

The song "Sex is on Fire" was also a major hit.

I really need to actively check these guys out.  I've liked all of what I heard, they really are mainstream rock done right.

Sex On Fire is so fucking annoying, mostly due to overplaying. The first two tracks on the same album, Closer and Crawl, are so much better.

Closer is awesome. The whole album is pretty damn good. It´s also pretty heavy, but without ´fat´ or extremely distorted guitars. They´re subtle, catchy, but most of all good at songwriting and arrangements. Plus the guy´s voice is just through the roof.
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Kings of Leon really are a great band. One of the only "newer" bands I can actually listen to.
prog sucks
Even if you're not serious, I'm going to pretend you are and use this as proof that not all heroes wear capes.

This is my cousin singing "Use somebody". What do you think of it? Any suggestions for improvement?
