I liked it.  I think the video is cheesier than the song itself.  Nice to see Cloudy up front.  Ballads were never my favorite part of Avantasia, but I liked this.

Play it later without watching it ... see if your opinion changes.

I don't know man. Maybe I've just moved away from this kind of music, but it didn't really do anything to me. I'll still check out the album, though I'll probably give it a Spotify listen before buying, maybe it's just the song.

Just gave the album a proper listen. To me, this is Avantasia's most powerful album EVER! Every other album usually had a song or two which were just fillers and would decrease the overall grade..... but on this one, I like every single one! He made a few longer-than-ten-minutes-songs which maybe even have a few nuances of prog, but maybe just my perception. Anyway, get it! Adorable stuff!

  • But not the medical kind.
So many reasons that video is bad I will simply post my favorite... Sascha giving the intense solo face no matter what he's playing.

Song itself sounded great though!

Man, I really can't stand Sascha's style of playing.  I wish Henjo would come back.

I have to agree with you here 100%, it is the best Avantasia so far, absolute killer.

God-fucking-dammit.  Nowhere has he ever stated a NA release date, and the iTunes Canada store says "Expected April 30th"

:wtf:

Same with amazon.com.  Or I can spend $62 to order the "import" CD.   >:(

:getoffmylawn:

Nuclear Blast can blow me.

USA release date is April 16th.
I'm getting mine from CD Japan, bonus track for Japan only.

Haven't listened, but pre-ordered anyway.  If it's a notch below their worst album, it will still be worth having - although I don't see this being their worst.

Anyone know what is on the 2nd disc?
Is it purely instrumental versions of the album or something different?

I'm finally getting around to listening to this, and I'm liking what I'm hearing. Great melodies, but that has always been Tobi's strength. And unlike Wolfie, I really like Sascha's playing style, so that's cool. Added plus is that the bass is doing some pretty interesting stuff on this album, which is always fun to hear.

EDIT: Though I wouldn't have minded the keyboards to be cut back a little. The keyboard solos in the first tracks were the respective weak point of each track, in my opinion, though they were still quite cool tracks.

I've got an iTunes gift card.  According to the iTunes store it won't be available until April 30th so I'll probably get it then.

Finally got around to giving their whole catalog a spin now that it arrived in the mail this week. Overall very good, but damn, the new release Mystery of Time is a cut above. Fantastic album from beginning to end. Easily their best.  :hefdaddy

I wouldn't call it their best, but it's fucking awesome.

Tentative rankings:

1. The Scarecrow
2. The Mystery of Time
3. The Wicked Symphony/Angel of Babylon (bumped up due to containing my favourite Avantasia song, Stargazers)
4. The Metal Opera, Pt. 1
5. The Metal Opera, Pt. 2

Wow, Tobias is sure fond of his "The".

I really like it. Great album.

Watched the Flying Opera dvd yesterday and that is a great show.

Damn straight. One of my fav concert DVDs.

Trying to figure out if its worh spending $450 or so to see them at the festival in Quebec in a couple of mins they just announced. I'm pretty certain it is. Not like they'll be coming to North America any other time in my life.

Sounds like a great way to blow $450. Another is to send it to me.
Give my love to Amanda Somerville if she's there.  :heart

"Our own tour, doing 2 - 3 hours! No support act, just AVANTASIA in arenas and theaters."    :omg:  Seriously... gonna rage if there's nothing in NA.

They won't. They'd be throwing money away.

My rage is over.  Just bought my ticket for the Quebec City Festival.  Cashed in points for the flight, hotel and a car rental.  Overall, $250 to see Avantasia.  Booyah!!!  Nick, get yourself a damn passport and c'mon up.

I'll lay my love into Amanda Somerville for anyone who wants me to.

Finally got my copy of this and just finished listening to it for the first time.  It's late and I'm tired so I missed a lot of it and it's quite a big listen on the first go.

The first two tracks were amazing, especially the first, definitely one of the best songs Tobi has ever come up with.  Still not a big fan of Sleepwalking but it's okay in the context of the album.  The ballad with Eric Martin was good too.  The song with Ronnie sounded better than it did when it was released too.  Kiske sounds amazing and I think I missed most of Joe's bits.  The title track is a good closer too.

More listens required, but good stuff.
