Radiant's website is choked out. Either doesn't load or barely works. Seems to be high demand, I guess. Just trying to score the Blu. Will get the others from Laser CD.

I just kept having to refresh multiple times every step of the way but finally got my Blu order in. Followed your lead and bought the CD's from Laser CD. I'm all set now.

My first thought with the single was “this sounds like a rewrite of the Whirlwind.” It grew on me when I watched the YouTube video that includes the overture. Don’t have any more deep thoughts about it. It sounds like Neal Morse/Transatlantic.

I ordered the Ultimate package even without listening to the release. My thought is I'd purchase the most expensive one just to contribute some $$$ to these guys given their livelihoods have been put on hold due to Covid.

I'm hopeful that the music itself will be worth it.

Funny how they released only 1 song on Spotify, but 2 songs on Youtube with the Official Video. Whomever is in charge of their marketing is one smart person.

And boo ads.

Ordered the separate cd editions from LaserCD, and after shipping it only came to $29.10!

A friend had wondered what to get me for Christmas so I told her about the Ultimate Edition box set and sent her the link on LaserCD, which theybhave for $95.00 and after shipping, I think was only a bit under $99.00!

Also, Burning Shed's preorders come with logo stickers while supplies last.

Raise your hand if you are shocked that the first song released has a prominent Mike Portnoy lead vocal section?  :lol :lol

*no one raises their hand*

Exactly.

Song wasn't bad, but I listened last night when half-asleep right before sleepy time. I will crank it today and see how the second listen goes.

I ordered the Blu-ray from Radiant, I might end up ordering the CDs from there too. I know it's cheaper on lasercd but I only buy like 5-6 CDs if that in a year so might as well make it count for the artist.

Looking at the track lenghts for both CD versions, it seems that the *only* track that is the same for both is The Darkness in the Light.

Also, seems like the "third" version of the album on the Blu-ray is just basically a "best of TAU" playlist, not a more complex/combined version of the album.

EDIT: Comparing track lenghts from the first two tracks on the abridged version with the video we got on YT, it also seems like we're missing a couple minutes, at least, from the album version.

It sounds like, "ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk, ruk." Instead of the more pleasing kick drum sound of, "gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk, gzarruk."

yeah, after seeing the track list and times, it appears that the bluray is just a compilation of the two discs and contains no exclusive tracks. Will be picking up just the CDs with this info. But I'm excited to get two different versions!

EDIT: I do find it interesting that other than The Darkness In The Light, EVERY song is either longer, shorter, or exclusive to a specific version of the album. I also find it interesting that the Abridged version has three tracks that are longer than their counterparts (and that they're not the versions on the blu-ray). There's a lot to take in here! *phew*
I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.

Listening to the new song and that section where Pete sings lead reminds me A LOT of The Great Adventure (song), and it's distracting.

Does anyone think the intro melody to Overture sounds identical to Everything Is Wrong from Neal's first solo album? Also the verse/chorus part sounds very similar to All Of The Above. I think the well has finally gone dry with these guys...everything sounds like something they've done already

Well, in making this an obvious money grab, they're going to lose money from me.  $23 for the Extended version, and $18 for the abridged version??  And I'm gonna assume this is USD. this is 2x the market rate for an album - and these are not even separate albums.

If they had offered a package for the BR, and both albums on CD for like $30-$35, I'd be in.  Now, I'm not sure I'm in at all (for the physical copies).  This single is on Spotify this morning, suggesting the albums will be available there upon release.

Agreed, I think the prices are ridiculous. Definitely going to buy from Amazon or something. Anything but Radiant.

Eh; I went on and intended to buy the Blu-ray, thinking I would buy the CDs from Amazon or somewhere else.  Then I thought, the hell with it, and bought the blu-ray, and the two versions of the CDs.  Yeah, it's more expensive, but it's not like I haven't gotten value for money from these guys so far.

Also, I have it, but it seemed I saw that the Kaleidoscope deluxe version was on sale for $9.99 at Radiant.  That's a steal.

When I was younger and had more money to play with I would always buy from Radiant just to throw more money their way. Nowadays, I tend to have to look for the better deal. At least when you buy from Laser CD you are buying from the official US Inside Out shop. Plus, Ken runs a great site and I have never had one issue with any purchase there ever. Don't expect to get it on release day. They always ship before, but new releases usually show up on the following Monday or Tuesday.

Also, not listening to a note before it is in my hands as well.

Yeah, Laser CD is my go to for prog releases most of the time (unless it’s just drastically cheaper on Amazon which often it’s not).

Well, I'm in a better mood today than I was earlier in the week.   Fuck it, I bought it all including a tee-shirt  :rollin   Not only did I get the box set, but I got a tee-shirt and I got 1 each of the other versions of the album because Christmas is coming and this will cross 3 people off my list.  So I went from "fuck you I'll stream it" to "let me buy it 3 times"  :lol

Interesting; I didn't know that.

I'm generally with you; I can't afford to consistently overpay for the releases I buy.  I honestly can't tell you why I pulled the trigger here (perhaps because it's a pre-order; I don't usually pre-order generally.  The UFO live and Petrucci's solo album were exceptions because I worried about availability.)

I'm also not listening to this until I can absorb all of it.

Well, it looks like something might have changed recently. The Inside Out page used to redirect to Laser for North America and Laser had a section dedicated to Inside Out pre-orders. Now Inside redirects to the Century Media store. Seems they are not official anymore.

Oh well, buy from Laser anyway. Can't go wrong with them.
