I love the whole album to be honest, it really has all those qualities that makes me love Ulver.
'Stone Angels' is very unique in their catalog, it's quite possibly their most pretentious song, but I just love it.
So unique, so beautiful.  :heart

Has anyone here listened to Daniel O'Sullivan's project Mothlite? I've had Flax of Reverie for a while, but it's just clicking right now; It's fantastic! It's almost like a mix of Ulver and Toby Driver.

This ad was included in a Kscope booklet with the new Anathema release.

Strange they decided to start promoting it without a release date... and without updating the content on the mentioned website. Looking forward to this though. :tup

Press Release for The Norwegian National Opera
(DVD & Blu-ray)

Stunning concert from the dark music legends – captured live in high definition in Oslo

Ulver returned earlier this year with their new album Wars Of The Roses. Early pioneers of Norwegian black metal, the band have continually evolved throughout their career and now stand as living legends of the dark music industry, blending rock, electronica, symphonic and chamber traditions along with noise and experimental music to create ground- breaking material.

Until recently however the band had remained exclusively within the studio. This changed in May 2009 when the band accepted an invitation to appear at the Norwegian Festival Of Literature. The success of this gig lead to them embarking on a string of other gigs in 2009 and 2010, selling out prestigious venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Volksbühne in Berlin and La Cigale in Paris before they returned to their homeland for this landmark gig at The Norwegian Opera House.

The 2 hour concert married tracks from throughout the band’s catalogue to stunning visuals to create a spectacle fitting for such a grand venue. The evening was captured on 6 HD cameras and the audio has been mixed for this release in the band’s own Crystal Canyon Studios.

Packaged in a limited edition 32 page rigid digibook 2 disc Set (Blu-ray and dvd)

I'm really digging Wars of the Roses at the moment, i think it tops Shadows, and is their best since Perdition. Do people agree or not?

I don't know... I still think Blood Inside is their best album. But their last 4 are really hard to rank.

Everytime I listen to it, I always end up skipping "Stone Angels" like half-way through.  :lol

Otherwise... decent album. There are some very good songs and some songs I don't care for and it's pretty much stayed that way since I first heard it.

I still love it, and would say that it's quality-wise as good as the others in the "holy" trio. (Perdition City, Blood Inside and Shadows)
Really digging all of the songs on it, if I had to pick a favorite I'd say Stone Angels, it's just something unique about the song, the ambient feel, but still being very Ulver-ish.

i used to be fairly "meh" about "Norwegian Gothic" and "Islands," but now i enjoy quite a bit, especially the latter.

"February MMX," "Providence," "September IV" and "England" are still massively successful, though!

Honestly I have no idea what ever happened with the DVD.
It was supposed to come out in November, I remember ordering it back then, I haven't heard a single thing about it since, but I figured that my order was only delayed, but it hasn't even been available for piracy, which made me wonder what happened to it.
The interesting phenomenon is that I haven't heard a single person say anything about it (or it being delayed), almost like everyone just forgot about it.  :lol

I ordered it too back then in November but somehow it never came to my door. I realized they never billed me anything so I just ordered it again and got it within two weeks!

i had to really hunt for Metamorphosis at a decent price. i'm sure i prolly ended up paying around $40 USD, so don't lose hope ;) it just takes a while for sellers to show up with it.
