okay I'll try this shit

1.  Blood Inside
2.  Perdition City
3.  Shadows Of The Sun
4.  War Of The Roses
5.  Themes From William Blake's The Marriage Of Heaven & Hell
6.  Svidd Neger
7.  A Quick Fix Of Melancholy
8.  Bergtatt
9.  Kveldssanger
10.  Metamorphosis
11.  Teachings In Silence
12.  Nattens Madigral
13.  Lyckantropen Themes

actually no because 3 through 7, and 8 through 10 rotate frequently. And I only have the two Silence EPs together so I can't rank individually, but I like 'em :)

Is the obligatory barcode anywhere on the Wars of the Roses packaging? Doesn't seem to be, just noticed that.

They dropped their original logo at the end of the 90s, and had the barcode on everything from Metamorphosis to Shadows Of The Sun. Guess they're treating the new decade as a new era for them and dropped the barcode logo

I'm really liking O'Sullivan, I'm eager to see what he does within Ulver.

Yep he's an excellent musician...his playing style fits in seamlessly with the other guys...it's like he's always been there. Heres of a good interview with Daniel from 2010  :)

on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

2. A Quick Fix of Melancholy
3. Lyckantropen Themes
4. Bergtatt
5. Perdition City
6. Blood Inside
7. Shadows of the Sun
8. Silencing the Singing
9. Nattens Madrigal
10. Svidd Neger
11. Silence Teaches You How to Sing
12. Themes From William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell
13. Wars of the Roses
14. Metamorphosis

Something like that. The first three are my favorites. 4-12 are all strong releases, and I consider them to be more or less equals in quality.

Wars of the Roses is slowly growing on me, but still don't like it as much as the other ones.

And I'm not too familiar with Metamorphosis. I've only listened to it a couple of times, although I still like it.

I only have their last four and I love them to death. Blood Inside is my favorite, but the new album is incredible!! It may grow even more on me.

Only heard about these today when browsing the forum so decided to check them out on Spotify, I'm two tracks into 'Peredition City' and already... 'wow'. I'm really impressed this is going to be a good listen!  :D

got Silence Teaches You How to Sing in the mail today! with Metamorphosis in transit (and the new Lyckantropen Themes + Perdition City vinyls), the only remaining post-black metal album i don't have is Svidd Neger. it is nextttttt

And I'm not too familiar with Metamorphosis. I've only listened to it a couple of times, although I still like it.
i love that EP. actually, unless i specifically want songs on Perdition City, i usually 'preface' my listening of that album with Metamorphosis.

also, if you want a 'complete PC sessions' kind of thing, you could just do a massive Metamorphosis - PC - Silencing the Singing spree. (i'd throw in Silence Teaches You How to Sing too, but it's not a leftover.)

It's nice to see this thread getting more attention since Ulver is pretty much the greatest group of modern music artists ever

As much as I love Porcupine Tree (them being one of my favorite bands), there's really no competition that Ulver crushes them in this category.
Ulver are always evolving their sound, and it's one of the few bands where I feel like it's more art then just music.

Fucking this. They're not making music, they're making art. I don't care how utterly pretentious that sounds :lol

Radiohead are a good example, but still... Ulver.
My first impression of the new album is that it's just ART.
It's the only way I can describe it, take 'Stone Angels' for example, that shit ain't just a song - ITS ART.  :heart

Radiohead

Still wouldn't say best, but they're a bit closer, even in terms of making music as art, than Ulver, and a damn sight nearer than PT are.

But seriously, it's a pretty weird statement to say one band makes 'music' while the other makes 'art', and then to use that as a reason for why they're better/worse.
