I see.  Don't think I'm gonna go though. As much as I love dream theater and iron maiden, I have too many shows this summer and can't afford anymore.  Maybe if it stopped by in CT I'd go, but I'll wait for DT's evening with tour :D

I would once again like to speculate on the apparent lack of a Montreal date, but the appearance of an Ottawa date.

It's longer than that for me, but I will likely be there.

OK, now I'm really confused. It no longer lists the Quebec City show, but does list an Ottawa show, which isn't on Maiden's site.  Also, Montreal is on Maiden's site, but isn't on DT's, even though it says DT is playing in MTL.

Presumably more dates will be announced.

Yeah, I would like this clarified. DT's site says there is an Ottawa show, Iron Maiden's site says no, and cybersdrummer's concert list page also says no.

We'll have to see exactly what happens, but I'm guessing this will be somewhat comparable to when Queensryche opened up for Maiden in 2000.  QR got a healthy 60 minute set (so did Dio in 03), and I'm expecting DT to get the same.  Yes, disappointing compared to the headlining tour that they didn't do for many US cities--in fact, they never did a true headlining US tour for Black Clouds outside of the Progressive Nation run.  However, considering that they weren't going to do a 2nd US leg at all, 60 minutes is definitely a treat.

I'm hearing rumours of a second date for MSG...  Dunno if there's any validity to them, but it was from before the shows were announced, and all the other places were correct. EDIT: Although, looking at the schedule, I doubt it.  It would mean 5 shows in a row, and Maiden (and DT) are getting old.

Also, CrimsonE, don't forget Halford was on that tour too, as was Motorhead with Dio in 2003.  I wouldn't be surprised if DT got more than an hour.

My friend and I are getting MSG tickets no matter what, and I'm foing to try to make the Pittsburgh show as well.  I'd be down for a DTF meet-up.

Yeah, meetup will be cool, just have to figure out which show if I plan on getting pit tickets for MSG or not, probably depends on who goes with me for that.

I think it would be grand if they opened with "The Glass Prison."  That would be a sure way to win over some metal-heads right off the bat.

I wouldn't be surprised if sets looked similar to the Gigantour sets; more of a focus on (somewhat) shorter metal songs.

Like this:

1. The Glass Prison
2. The Mirror
3. Lie
4. A Rite of Passage
5. Constant Motion
6. Take the Time

--------

7. Pull Me Under / Metropolis

With maybe a breather or two swapped in usually.

WOW!. Two of my top 3 bands of all time playing together on tour. Yet the closest they come to Tampa or anywhere in Florida is Washington DC. You call that a tour? More like a vacation to me. Why so many dates in Canada? This depresses me.

In general, that's a pretty good set.  But as a fan, even though I like AROP and I LOVE CM, it would be kind of a bummer to have both in the same set since they are so similar sonically and structurally.

Yeah, I don't think the two will actually be put together.  I just created the basic set as one that would feature the songs most played on a tour, rather than how an actual set will flow.  I'm pretty sure most of those will get time on this tour, but I agree that AROP and CM shouldn't (and won't) be played at the same show.  Hell, as far as I know, both of them were played fairly often so far this tour, but never together (I think).

I'm still holding out hope for my TGP/TSF mini-12-step medley, which I think would be great for this tour.  That'd be a pretty metal onslaught.

Yeah, good call.  I don't think it's gotten heavy rotation since the SDOIT tour as I recall.

No Quebec show anymore ? WTF ?
Jesus Christ himself* comes down amidst a choir of 2 billion angels singing Handel's Hallelujah chorus. As KrotchRaut shred randomly on guitars made of dragon bones using picks made from God's kidney stones, Jesus heals a blind woman who promptly gives birth onstage to a creation of pure light.

*Yes, Jesus Christ himself. Nothing less will do.

Realized that this tour starts 18 years to within one day from when Iron Maiden chose a then-relatively unknown band, with a brand-new singer and on the verge of releasing a gold record, to open for them in NYC  :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal
