Shame it's something that doesn't effect me in the least, but what a cool thing for DT. Good way to afford a tour. Wonder what the setlists'll be like.

So DT is playing 2 shows?

I think it means those are the start and finish dates for the summer tour, so more than two shows.

Given I don't like Iron Maiden and that an evening with them will be heftily priced, a no-go for me.

Just in case he deletes it:

In the least it'll give DT some exposure to a much larger fan base.

I do live in north america. But I am not the biggest IM fan, not that they're bad. I've seen them, and have no real desire to see em again. And it just means DT gets 45 min to an hour to play. So no real excitement for me.

The previous bass player I worked with will need a secondary exit right now so he can shit his pants at the speed his bowels want to. He is a huge IM+DT fan.

It's really cool news for DT, bit less good for the fans that are not in North America.

Meh.

I wouldn't mind seeing Maiden (would be first time). Now it depends on whatever band they get to support them here, I would've loved DT.

In the DT presser at mp.com, Portnoy said that, at this stage of their careers, there are only three bands that DT would open for, and Iron Maiden is one of them.  The other two are more than obvious. ;)

Yeah - that's what I was hoping. Saw the news post here...went to IM.com, saw the tour schedule - and no dang show for us! Now I'll have to trek to Chicago. I have never seen Maiden in my life - and I really want to!!!

it's a great way to showcase the drum sound by introducing the album with that awesome drumming and sound.
