A sneak peak into Portnoy's ipod

Some interesting stuff, it's great to see how much interest he takes in music. So much of that is amazing too!

I asked this when Allmusic reviews dredg as well.

But Portnoy's description is SO METAL: "Rush meet the Police in the new millennium."

I love the way MP talks about music. Not only you can see his passion for other artist, but his descriptions are usually very precise and creative. I always love his comments of the type "like if Radiohead were on odd time signatures" or "this band is ___ meets ____".

There are some passages in their songs that are very metal-esque, but of course they´re not properly a metal band.

FREE BIRD
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

FREE BIRD
This.  So I guess it was probably MP's idea to stick the Freebird solo onto the end of TTT?  Very cool he likes the song so much because I feel the same way.  Can't ever possibly hear it too much.

Great to see him give the Scorpions and Uli Roth their due. 70's era Scorpions is one of my favorite bands.

By the way MP, good music is never "dated".  :)

Also, I thought it was neat that South of the Border by Beardfish came up.  I've listened to that band a lot lately, and that song is awesome.

If more people were like you, I would actually feel confident in starting a JTull survivor. Unfortunately, most people seem to only be casual fans of the band, and have Aqualung, TaaB, and maybe one other album. :(

The censored version of Megadeth These Boots he's talking about is annoying as fuck, beeps all through it.

Wow, fascinating, etc.
Our job was to select someone to speak for everybody. And I just couldn't in good conscience vote for a person who doesn't believe in God. Someone who honestly thinks the other ninety five percent of us suffer from some form of mass delusion.

:omg: WOW I can't believe that MP is into Praxis!  I'm a big fan of Buckethead's and and Praxis's "Transmutation" is a favorite of mine.  Praxis is a supergroup featuring Buckethead, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, and Brain.  That album is seriously amazing - the music those guys make, with all of them known for working in pretty different genres, is extremely unique.   The second half of "Animal Behavior," the song Mike mentioned, is a really beautiful piece of music.

I always knew MP had good taste in music  :tup

I was cool with Sweet Dreams, great song, but Far Far From Home is what floored me.  Great song, album, band.  First band I ever saw live.  Got in trouble for wearing the shirt to school the next day.

Only because it was sleeveless.  Way before your time, but older people here might remember the original checkered Fastway shirts.

Aaaaawwww, I was hoping to hear about some insane chase to catch you because you were wearing an explicitly violent shirt that was offensive to a lot of people.  :-[

EDIT: My friend has gotten his Cannibal Corpse shirt (inb4 why would you wear a CC shirt?) taken away... and never given back.
