VERY cool. I have had the album for awhile now (like most of you) and dig it. My hardcopy will be the U.S. version on Nov. 9.

They're starting to announce US dates for after the Euro tour.  They play St. Louis on Dec. 13.  I feel confident that they will play Orlando at some point being their base of operation.

I was at the Glasgow show, they opened with I Know It Hurts which was a bit of a surprise. Every show since then has opened with Slip To The Void, but personally I thought Slip To The Void was better nearer the end - the buildup was still just as good and wasn't ruined by people cheering as soon as Mark Tremonti etc. came out.

Also saw setlists after Glasgow had One Day Remains on them, which is a shame since I love that song. On the other hand I think we're the only ones to get Show Me A Sign so far, which was very good live, and has grown on me a lot. One of the best songs from the new album.

Wow, Myles sounds excellent. Better than I've ever heard him live, and that includes the Slash tour and 'Live in Amsterdam'. I'm seeing them in the Heineken Music Hall next month, which is the venue where the DVD was recorded. Really hoping to hear Blackbird, I just have to witness that live.

Listened to the new album a few times. My first impressions are that it's good, but it's lacking the two or three amazing tracks that the first two albums had. Maybe some more listens will help something stand out.

You can count on it.  I had similar feelings at one point, but after some quality time with the album, I feel there are some amazing songs.

I Know It Hurts has grown the most on me after listening for a while.  The chorus is kinda meh, but the verse is way cool feel and Mark plays quite possibly one of his best solos on any of the records.

Only 3 albums, and none are really "those ones in the discography that aren't good".

Probably the album Blackbird. It's their best one in my opinion, and you'll get a pretty good idea of their style from it.

One Day Remains if you want to start at the beginning.
AB III if you want to check out their most recent first.

I always loved the thought of a newb listening to Alter Bridge for the first time turning on One Day Remains and hearing "Find The Real" as their first experience with AB.  Followed by the title track!  My point is this:  If you love kick ass rock music, you should love Alter Bridge.  That being said, take it all in from the beginning.  Hear the musical evolution.  Then you can ask yourself, "Why is this band not the biggest thing in rock music?"

The biggest thing in rock music should be Thrice.

All ABIII does is solidify their status as a kick ass rock band. It sure as hell isn't better than Blackbird or ODR.

I agree.  Only a few tracks have had staying power for me so far.  Still think it's a pretty solid album, but there's too little diversity overall and it seems a little bit formulaic.  Opens and closes VERY strong, drags in the middle.

I'm not sure whether I like ODR or Blackbird better though.  I kinda flip-flop on that.

I don't one album is better than the other, and because they haven't made a bad album yet may justify my thought. I feel like each album has things that stand out from one another. AB III is just a deep, dark, personal piece of masterwork from these guys.

After the first few listens, I was most certainly in agreement with most of your opinions.  That is, the album was good, but it felt formulaic, and none of the songs stood out.

I thought wrong.

After some more listens these songs have most certainly stood out as some of Alter Bridge's best tunes:

Ghost Of Days Gone By
All Hope Is Gone
Still Remains
Make It Right
Coeur D'Alene
Words Darker Than Their Wings

Not to mention that most (that is, outside of Breathe Again and Life Must Go On) of the tracks left on the album are better than nearly any other band out there right now.  Seriously, those songs listed are fucking AWESOME  :metal :metal

Can't believe you missed out my top... 5 from the album, actually, from that list :(

Slip To The Void
Show Me A Sign
I Know It Hurts
Fallout
Isolation

And Blackbird is definitely their best album so far, for me. My two favourite AB songs are Blackbird and Ties That Bind, so it's obviously likely to be my favourite album. I don't really think of it as AB III as being worse, as in the band is getting worse. The quality level's staying consistent, Blackbird just happens to be the better album. The same way I don't listen to Blackbird (song), then come onto One By One and think "This band is going downhill." The band's just as good, but one song just happens to be better than the other.

Yeah, it feels like all three albums are consistently great and could have been written in the same time period - which is both a good and a bad thing.
