Well, this is an interesting find.  A contestant from The Voice UK decided to sing Watch Over You.  The end result of that performance?  Well, I'll let you guys be the judge of it.

Ugh dude that was really rough.

Wow not only was the dude's vocal performance pretty rough, the edited arrangement of the song was really awkward, he like never sang a full section of the actual song there really.

So, what has happened in the last two months?  Well, the recording process has appeared to go smoothly, albeit a lot quietly than usual.  I think everything is done except the fact that they are probably going to be done recording vocals this week, before Mark takes off for Europe to do a festival run on the backs of Dust.

Afterwards, it's time for a long US tour, opening in amphitheaters with Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed headlining (I got really high hopes for this tour and I think everyone involved in it, all the bands and crowd, will go home happy and having a good time all around) and AB playing in a couple of festivals (also with Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed headlining).  Also, AB is going to participate in this cruise ship festival called Shiprocked in January so that would be an interesting site seeing them and other bands like Breaking Benjamin, Sevendust, Papa Roach, etc. on a cruise ship for 5 days or so.

On another note, Myles had collaborated with Darryl "DMC" McDaniels (of the hip-hop group Run-DMC) and John Moyer (bassist for Disturbed) for a song called Flames.  It's actually pretty listenable and its lyrical content is really topical in today's society.  Here's the video.

Cool song, thanks for the link. Myles sounds killer as usual.

Looking forward to the new AB for sure after the masterpiece of Fortress, I'll be interested to see what we get from them.

I was just thinking about them last night, haven't heard an update in quite some time.....hopefully it won't be too long until we get a title/tracklisting/album cover for the new one!

And the recording process is done.

https://twitter.com/MylesKennedy/status/733565831234260993

So I guess now Elvis will mix it.  Someone will do the mastering and the album will be ready to be listened to at that VIP Listening Party in early July.  Single will be out hopefully around that time which is great as AB will be touring in that summer opening in amphitheaters so hopefully when rock radio stations promote those shows, they can promote the single as well which is something AB needs a lot of in the states, nowadays.  It's all coming together now.

So, for those that do know, AB had got a certain tendency to switch record labels from time to time (the only exception was with Fortress when they stuck with :soon:).  Now they are with Napalm Records.  For those that do know about Napalm, is it a good label and is it a good fit for AB?

What? Wow, that surprises me. I thought RoadRunner would be a good fit for them long-term...

I've never heard of this label, I hope this doesn't come back to be a mistake for AB, who historically has really bad luck with labels.

The Napalm record deal applies to Rest of the World only. It doesn't apply to North America. That's what the press release says. AB might still sign with Roadrunner in the US.

Nah, AB is actually on their own label in the states. When they were with RoadRunner, RoadRunner represented them everywhere in the world except the USA, where AB represented themselves. It wouldn't make much sense for them to leave RR internationally, sign with another label, and then resign with RR for the states.

Honestly AB is one of my favorite bands on the planet, but it seems like they tend to make bad business decisions when it comes to record labels.

Napalm is a solid record label, but I was hoping more of a long term deal with Roadrunner. I mean, I wanted a Alter Bridge: The Roadrunner Years compilation cd in the future  :lol

No matter where this band lands, i will always support them. I just hope to God that jumping from label to label won't be the end of them

That's pretty much where I am at. I will always support these guys, one of my favorite groups out there, I'm just worried all this label jumping isn't wise. Maybe it is though, I have no clue.  :lol

Right, so some people's thoughts regarding the upcoming US tour where they are opening for Breaking Benjamin and..... Disturbed (honestly, to me, lately I've been tolerating them pretty well as of late.  They are slowly winning me over) have been polarizing to say the least.

However, AB has got a Europe tour with them headlining arenas in the UK with their good friends in Like A Storm opening in addition to Volbeat and Gojira being direct supports.  Heard Gojira's latest album.  It's all right, though it seems too doomy/gloomy to me, at times.  Volbeat's latest album, though, I really liked on first listen, so this should be a decent bill that should sell well in the UK arenas.

Here are the other dates in Europe.

With: Special Guest TBC, Like A Storm
Fri 4th Nov - BILBAO, Spain - Santana 27
Sat 5th Nov - BARCELONA, Spain - Razzmatazz
Tue 8th Nov - PARIS, France - Zenith
Wed 9th Nov - BRUSSELS, Belgium - AB
Thu 10th Nov - AMSTERDAM, Holland - HMH
Sun 13th Nov - BERLIN, Germany - Columbiahalle
Mon 14th Nov - VIENNA, Austria - Gasometer
Wed 16th Nov - KATOWICE, Poland - Spodek
Sun 20th Nov - OSLO, Norway - Sentrum Scene
Mon 21st Nov - COPENHAGEN, Denmark - Vega Main Hall

With: Gojira, Like A Storm
Sun 4th Dec - FRANKFURT, Germany - Jahrhunderthalle
Mon 5th Dec - COLOGNE, Germany - Palladium
Tue 6th Dec - HAMBURG, Germany - Mehrl Theater
Fri 9th Dec - BOLOGNA, Italy - Unipol Arena
Sat 10th Dec - MUNICH, Germany - Zenith
Sun 11th Dec - BASEL, Switzerland - Jakobshalle

Hahahaha what the hell I knew Myles was a Gojira fan but it's a really weird choice for the opening act of Alter Bridge :lol

Don't know whether I'm going yet, I like AB but probably not enough to lay down like 40-50 euro's to see them. Also depends on the new album obviously.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.

I hate Breaking Benjamin with a passion, and I don't really want to see Disturbed, so their U.S. tour isn't really appealing to me, unfortunately.

This is pretty much where I'm at with the tour. I love AB to death, but I'm not sure I want to pay to see them do a short set followed by a couple bands I have no interest in seeing. I wish they would have just done a headlining tour in the states.

Hopefully they will do a headlining run of shows in the states to support the new album after these European dates.

Yeah, the UK is probably AB's biggest market on earth. There's no way they don't play there anytime they are heading out on the road.

Today, AB is having their Listening Party where those are willing to part with $250 are going to hear the new studio album before anybody else does and see AB play a set.  Before that, WJRR, the rock radio station in Orlando, had a brief Q&A on Facebook with AB.  Some of the answers involves some context regarding the new album.  Here's the vod.

Based on that video, it sounds like the new album title is going to be called "The Last Hero."

EDIT:

Actually, Flip outright said that's the album title in the beginning of the video, and Myles delved about the meaning of that title later on.

There we have it. The Last Hero.

Quote from Myles about the album title

Quote
One of the reasons we went with that title was that a lot of the themes on The Last Hero evolve around the hero concept and the need for heroes in our society and bleeders and what we do to our leaders and heroes or role models and how we tend to build them up, tear them down. Also, there's a song, actually one of Brian favorite songs, that pays tribute to heroes, whether it's someone who serves the country, serve the community. So yea, that theme runs throughout quite a bit of the record and that's why we thought that title would bring it together.

I'm not sure. Someone from Alterbridgenation.net who went to the listening party posted those titles, but didn't specify if they were in the correct order.

Apparently the two epic tracks are awesome, and there are no ballads on this record
